yeah, that is what I was thinking about ryan/eli

hester and mason was really gonna be a coin toss- hester does do some returning, but Flacco needs to throw it to someone... and I consider mason to be as big a threat as Heap and Clayton (even if he is getting up there in age)

ok i gotta make a decision on pierre by tonight, my only decent backup RB is mendenhall and they're playing tonight. does anyone think there's no chance pierre won't play this weekend? well i do have ricky williams too, but i'd probably play mendenhall over williams if i had to.

it doesnt look good for Pierre, he hasnt been practicing this week and was limping around a couple days ago. I would probably start Ricky over Mendenhall

Pick one:

NO defense vs. Detroit
GB defense vs. Chicago

I have GB's defense on my roster, and NO is on the FA list

It would be hard to imagine that Detroit's offense would put up more than 17 points on NO. In addition, the likelihood of NO getting a turnover and couple of sacks of Stafford would make me want to start them.

The only thing I wonder about is do you have to drop GB's D to get NO? Is that worth it to you?

thats the question, GB's defense is pretty good, so I might just end up rolling with them

yeah, I'm not sure if I'd drop GB right off the bat for the favorable matchup

pick 2
Parker vs TEN
Slaton vs. NYJ
Sproles vs. OAK

Slaton is obvious there

I'd say Parker there, because you know he will get most of the carries, while Sproles will only get lots of carries if the Chargers are up by a lot (which is very likely, but not a lock)

my WR battle just got worse:

pick 2:

Donald Driver
Joshua Cribbs
Devin Hester
Derek Mason

you get .5 per reception, 1pt per 2yds, and 1 pt per 25 yds of returning

cribbs and hester are good returners, but I feel like Driver and Mason will get more looks on offense

oh, and as for my QB questioning earlier, it turns out Matt Ryan has the flu... GOD DAMMIT!

Ewww return yards. Hester is only doing punts now remember and not kickoffs so he might not get any there. If you like Mason better as a WR I would take him.

Who is the backup in ATL now? I have Roddy White and that makes me nervous too.

^(Defense question)

I've been picking up different DEF every week for the last 2 years and I've found that if you make solid choices, you will get more points from you DEF position than the very best DEF out there in the end. 2 years ago there was not one single DEF squad that had more points than I was able to rack up playing the matchups (even when you add in what they would have gotten with no bye)...Last year I think I trailed 2 or 3 of them generally.

Point is, I've found it safe to say that unless you have one of the top 2 or 3 proven DEF options, it would behoove you to play matchups. If you're good, it's probably better to play the matchups no matter what DEF you have.

^ Quinn if he is indeed the starter.

Keller would be my starter of those two.

But...for the past 2 years, Heath Miller's best game of the season has been the 1st game. Just an FYI.

Still, I'd start Keller.

Ok, I am trying to decide on my 3rd WR spot, currently I have Santonio Holmes, but Pitts first game is against Tennesse, and that might not lead to a lot of offensive success. I am wondering if it worth putting in Devery Henderson, because its going to be a blowout in Detroit with Brees (who I also have =))

So,

S. Holmes vs Tenn.
or
D. Henderson vs Detroit

And one last thing, sorry for the double post;

Im pulling Jonathan Stewart out and putting in Hightower for weak 1, Hightower is starting for Arizona, and I feel Stewart needs a little time to recoup after missing a lot of practice.

You think this is worthwhile?

I think they rest Stewart and use Williams and Goodson most of the game.

Ok, tough call here: I need a flex spot, pick 1
Pierre Thomas
LeSean McCoy
Ahmad Bradshaw
Dominik Hixon
Brent Celek
Jerious Norwood

Fantasy News

Quote :
"According to the Twitter page of Saints' beat writer Jeff Duncan, running back Pierre Thomas is still hoping to play on Sunday. Thomas told the media that he will attempt to practice on Thursday and if he is able, then he will play on Sunday.

I'm not buying it though. Thomas is still hurting pretty badly from the sprained MCL and from the injury he sustained while rescuing his dog from his neighbor's yard. Expect him to sit this weekend, and if he does play it will be in a very limited capacity."

Damn. Why can't players ever just be ruled out!

pierre is a little banged up, other wise i like him

i always liked norwood because he could surprise you, but I don't expect him to get too much

McCoy and Bradshaw I am skeptical- I don't think I'd put in Hixon of Celek though

Probably a dumb question, but who would you play:

Willie Parker Vs. Tennessee
Cadillac Williams Vs. Dallas

The main reason I ask (I'm for Parker) is simply b/c Tampa's QBs are awful, so they'll have to run. But, since it's RB by committee (Parker may share with Mendenhall too), is Cadillac worth using at all this week?

Also, I'm trying to trade Willie Parker. Who would you consider to be equal value in terms of a running back? I have Marshawn Lynch for later on in the season, but would like to upgrade slightly. My other RB is Steve Slaton.

Knowshon Moreno @CIN or Donnie Avery @SEA in the flex

I don't think Moreno will get many carries coming off of a knee injury and CIN was surprisingly decent against the run last year. He may get the goal line carries though.

The Rams will be playing from behind and Bulger should look to Avery and Laurent Robinson. Their WR corps sucks but Avery made some big plays last year so I'm basically looking to catch lightning in a bottle.

^^ Now I'm a FF rookie so please take that into account, but I'd run with Willie Parker if it were me... From CBS Sports: "Steelers RB Willie Parker may get his wish of being the short-yardage back. When asked who would be the goal-line back, offensive coordoinator Bruce Arians said, "I think we'll go with the guy that's in the ball game unless he's dead tired. Willie's the man." "

DEF ?
TB vs DAL
or
PHI vs CAR

I don't have a whole lot of faith in TB's new DC at this point and the Panthers offense didn't look great in the preseason so I would go with PHI.

Pick 1:

T. Holt vs IND
B. Berrian vs CLE
E. Royal vs CIN

I'm leaning towards Royal

I'd probably go with Berrian until I see Denver's offense in action. If they really plan on making Royal their own version of Wes Welker, then he's going to be money in PPR leagues

I saw enough of Royal in the preseason to expect >100 catches this year if healthy. I'd start with him PPR or no, but it's good that you have two good subs if DEN completely sucks at offense.

who should I play for my flex? PPR league

Right now I have buckhalter in there. Interested to see how much the jets use Washington since they are saying he is gonna get the ball more. He did look good in preseason.

Berrian
Buckhalter
Cotchery
Leon Washington
Julius jones
L. Coles

That's a tough one. I would go with Cotchery to be honest. Washington will get the ball more than he did last year but that doesnt mean anything as of yet. Jones is still going to get the majority of the carries. Cotchery is the #1 target for the Jets right now. He will definitely get looks no matter what. I honestly think Cotchery or Berrian simply because of the roles they play and the fact that they arent second string.

[Edited on September 10, 2009 at 3:01 PM. Reason : Buckhalter is going to be hit or miss. If Denver gets down big, they will have to use more passing.]

^^^i'd look at your receivers already. if the guys you have are more posession/reliable type, go with berrian because he's got a higher ceiling. if you have high risk/high reward players go with cotchery because he's not going to be a miss.

oh yeah, ppr cotchery will be a stud. nvm, go with cotchery.

I was thinking like mid-2000

but still I am playing Jones in my 2nd RB spot (behind AP), but ahead of guys like Felix Jones and Jamal Lewis

He might lose carries to Edgerrin but he's going into the season as the #1 RB for Seattle so I expect him to get 20-25 carries this week

I feel good having him now, just on my 2nd team. I was a little worried about that team's receivers. Hopefully, he can do that all year. Unfortunately, Willie Parker was garbage, and didn't even play in crunch time.
