The two minute drill ain't looking too bad. I wonder if Delhomme can reach the endzone on his upcoming hail mary try.

^^^ I actually thought Atlanta didnt play that great of game... Passing offense was unstoppable but everyone knew that, but they held the running game in check and moved it against the defense. Haha, you act like Atlanta isnt one of the top teams in the NFL

Defense was pretty poor today. This game was more what I expected to see. Defense was able to make a couple big plays, but really had trouble slowing down their attack until the 4th quarter. A lot of teams would have trouble doing that against Atlanta, though.

no reason we couldnt beat the falcons in charlotte later in the year - we came close enough today. Have to win two from TB and one from ATL and NO if we are going to keep dancing.

Seriously worried about NO at this point though...

he was tired of the system, wanted to go elsewhere...panthers franchise tag him so he can't, and that gave him some percentage more $$$ than either his salary last year, or the avg/highest salary for his position in the league? i dunno im sure i screwed something up in that, but in the end he gets more money than anyone because the panthers didnt want to let him go into FA

I think franchise tag gives the player the average of the top 5 players UNLESS the guy was already the highest paid player at his position in the previous year, which peppers was.

So it costs like 20% more to tag him.

i'm curious as to the percentage of players who are successfully traded after having the tag slapped on them, since that's obviously what the panthers were trying to do

used to be fairly successful but Peppers only wanted to go to 4 teams and two of them were division rivals.

it is about the money, or at least from my point of view, the cap space. because we thought we couldn't live without him or that we couldn't bear letting him walk without getting anything of value in return, we couldn't sign additional pieces we need to be more competitive.

this team looked a lot better today, hopefully we can get on the right track in time.

I guess you could call this a bit of a "bounce back" game, especially for Delhomme, but we still look average at best. Worse than that, NO and ATL are already 2 games up on us in the division. I still have no idea why we're throwing the ball 41 times a game, that's just not what this team is built to do.

i think it comes down to our defense. our offense and our gameplan are designed to be content to settle for field goals and punting for field position, but when the defense gives up a td every time down the field, we end up playin from behind a majority of the game, forcing us to go pass-heavy.

so with 0-3 staring us in the face, at what point do we all get that deep down feeling of just losing in hopes of getting rid of fox and delhomme and bringing in cowher? i say this now, because i know come monday i'll want nothing more than for pep to decapitate romo and win by 35.

no if you take delhomme out of the equation, even though he played like the old jake, then we have a good coach in Fox

Fox is good, disciplined, consistant
i cant think of another coach that is available that would be a better fit

one thing i think we need to change is getting our 3rd and 4th WR's involved more with short passes
that will open up the running and passing game
and get a better Tight End

we did a decent job of this last week, with Jake completing passes to King, Rosario, Moore, Jarrett...but Smitty demands his catches too...we don't want 89 to play whiny...Jake just needs to read the defense, and hit the open receiver...if its Smith, or somebody else...pass to the open guy

Thats one of the reasons Jake looked so sharp the first 2 games of last year...no Smith, no urgency to get Smith >= X touches, he played loose, and we won both of those games
