i posed this question in the archer thread but what do you think we could have done different scheme wise on defense today? i honestly do not know what we could have done. we missed a few tackles but overall i thought that tackling was better today. it just seems to me that we have almost zero talent on that side of the ball (and the talent we do have is very young).

everything else is mediocrity. do you not realize how easy it is to win 7 games and go to a bowl? 3 of your games every year are cupcakes. That means you have to beat 4 halfway decent teams. Nothing special and easy to do when you dominate new england recruiting. Its not a great talent area but its good enough to win a few games.

If you don''t believe me, go on a bc board and see what they think of him. they hated him because of his conservative calling.

great point, it's not the coach, its all the players.

the players are the ones who manage the clock, call the plays, and set the defensive schemes.

they are also the ones who determine succession planning.

TOB has nothing to do but collect hundreds of thousands of USDs per year to hold a clipboard and be a figurehead. He also has nothing to do with the coordinators, therefore, the defensive struggle is completely on the players or Archer. Obrien is just doing his job.

TOB still credible

I blame Archer for the secondary players' lack of fundamental abilities, instinct, and general football knowledge. You can tell they don't know what they are doing. Anytime they are lucky to get an interception it is because a ball basically lands in their hands. They are athletic for sure, but don't know what they are doing.
