Chad, you're an idiot. GTF off TWW.
Bill Cowher would be a terrible AD....it takes much more than being able to coach a football team to be a successful AD.

'BOUT MOTHERFUCKIN' TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was this close to an all-out boycott of donating another penny to anything NC State related given that I've donated a grand total of $20 to this school since graduating in 2003.
Most of our programs are jokes and Fowler did nothing to improve them. The biggest example being the volleyball team--four coaches during his tenure and nothing but miserable seasons. Thanks to the new chancellor for leading the way. Now, we can get back to being State fans instead of ABC and ABD fans since Woodson will have the interests of the Wolfpack community instead of the interests of the Executive Mansion.
[Edited on May 5, 2010 at 12:20 AM. Reason : Hell, if anything, Fowler ran them into the ground. Now, he should just go away...forever.] 5/5/2010 12:19:17 AM |

For damn sure there had to be someone with more coaching experience then one year as an assistant.
You people have got to expand your horizons beyond the little group of people who used to work at NC State, or went here, or whatever. We've been fucking garbage in everything for two decades. Why would we want anyone who had any part in that?5/5/2010 3:12:25 AM |

App's football stadium is nicer than Wake and Duke. I would say Cobb had something to do with that. The AD gets no credit for 3 national championships? If you are going to base your decision on one coach who hasn't even coached a game then wow. Look at other stuff.
Baseball was a joke before Cobb and now they have a new stadium there and are contending. They are 31-8-1 this year and the SoCon is a good baseball conference, Elon just beat our team last week and they are middle of the road. Hell Davidson is in last place and beat Virginia Tech yesterday. The two years before Chris Pollard was hired as coach in 2004 they won ten games in back to back seasons.

Three years ago basketball won the SoCon North and won 25 games, the MOST ever. This year they won the SoCon North and went 22-11 (13-5). Mind you this is a school all about football and has made the NCAA Tournament a whopping two times.
So yeah in a nutshell, the athletic program is doing fairly well. Roll your eyes at that.

Yeah, I don't know a lot about 1AA stadiums, but I imagine it's one of the best. Wake has done a lot of renovations over the past five years though. BB&T is actually a pretty nice place these days.

Maybe before Wake built their new tower and got BB&T onboard as a sponsor. Wake's stadium is pretty damn nice now (to be such a small school). The tower has a great restaurant in it too that's open for lunch everyday and all day on gamedays. Food kicks ass, tower kicks ass. Ron Wellman gets some credit for that.

Quote : | "Purcell puts hat in ring for NCSU AD job
Raleigh, N.C. — Of all the fans, athletes and university employees with a vested interest in the hiring of the next athletic director at North Carolina State University, Bobby Purcell, executive director of the Wolfpack Club, may have the most on the line.
Purcell is the man behind the university’s athletic fundraising efforts, producing more than $50 million for scholarships and facilities over the past 15 years.
He is an N.C. State lifer and told The Insiders Monday morning on 620 The Buzz that the athletic director position would be his dream job.
“It’s kind of always been my career goal to be AD here at N.C. State,” Purcell said. “It’s a job I’d very much like to have the opportunity to be considered for.”
Lee Fowler, athletic director for the past 10 years, announced last week that he would end his tenure effective June 30.
Chancellor Randy Woodson said he and Fowler "agreed that now is the appropriate time to make a change." Woodson plans to name an interim director before Fowler's last day to lead the department until a national search finds a replacement.
N.C. State said it will honor Fowler's contract, which expires Sept. 20, 2013, and pays him $280,000 per year.
“I remember when we were winning championships,” Purcell said Monday. “We’ve got to get back there.
“It’s all about leadership and having the passion that your fan base has,” he said. Purcell said his current job gives him a unique perspective. One mission of the Wolfpack Club, he said is to serve as a liaison between the athletic department and the fans.
“We think that’s very important and we take it very seriously because we want our fans to be represented,” he said.
Woodson will weigh Purcell’s strong reputation within the Wolfpack community against his lack of experience – he has never been an athletic director and has not held sole responsibility for hiring and firing coaches." |

Quote : | " Fowler says process has been emotional Extended Interview: Lee Fowler
Lee Fowler says the last few weeks have been an emotional time for him.
"It’s part of the business," Fowler said of his impending departure from NC State. "It’s something AD’s live with, whether it’s a shock or not when it happens."
Fowler, whose tenure as NC State's athletic director ends June 30, says he and his wife received a standing ovation at the recent ACC meetings.
"It’s really emotional to know how your peers feel about you," Fowler said.
Fowler spoke to WRAL at the Wolfpack Club's Coaches Caravan event in Raleigh.
"I told some of my coaches the way I’m going to be happy is if they do well," he said. "I think we have the right coaches so I’ll be happy sitting on the sideline watching it."
When asked if he will be pulling for the Wolfpack after his departure, Fowler joked: "I’ve got two daughters with three degrees from NC State, so I’m definitely a State fan."

^ He received a standing ovation because all the other ADs were appreciative of the shitty teams NC State fielded which in turn made the other ADs look more successful.
