So I have a map saved on Bing and want to view it on my phone but can't figure out how. Anyone know?
even tried sharing it with myself and opening the link in the email on my phone and that doesn't work.

I have an available update for my WP7 OS. When I install it, if it is naything significant, I'll post and update, otherwise it's probably is just a tweak update or a pre-update update. 5/25/2011 10:20:48 PM |

Quote : | "Update 7.0.7392.0
• Fix for fraudulent third-party digital certificates. This update includes a critical fix to an industry-wide issue with nine untrusted digital certificates that were issued by one root certificate authority. These third-party digital certificates are used to access popular websites and email portals. Although this is not a Microsoft security vulnerability, these untrusted certificates may be used to spoof content, perform phishing attacks, or perform man-in-the-middle attacks against all web browser users. This update moves the affected certificates to the "Untrusted Publishers" certificate store on Windows Phone, which helps ensure that these fraudulent certificates are not inadvertently used. For more info, see Microsoft Security Advisory (2524375). " |
Quote : | "Microsoft Security Advisory (2524375) Fraudulent Digital Certificates Could Allow Spoofing Published: March 23, 2011 | Updated: May 10, 2011
Version: 4.0 General Information Executive Summary
Microsoft is aware of nine fraudulent digital certificates issued by Comodo, a certification authority present in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities Store, on all supported releases of Microsoft Windows, Windows Mobile 6.x, Windows Phone 7, Microsoft Kin, and Zune devices. Comodo advised Microsoft on March 16, 2011 that nine certificates had been signed on behalf of a third party without sufficiently validating its identity. These certificates may be used to spoof content, perform phishing attacks, or perform man-in-the-middle attacks against all Web browser users including users of Internet Explorer.
These certificates affect the following Web properties: •
login.live.com •
mail.google.com •
http://www.google.com •
login.yahoo.com (3 certificates) •
login.skype.com •
addons.mozilla.org •
"Global Trustee"
Comodo has revoked these certificates, and they are listed in Comodo’s current Certificate Revocation List (CRL). In addition, browsers which have enabled the Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) will interactively validate these certificates and block them from being used.
An update to help address this issue is available for all supported releases of Windows and for Windows Mobile 6.x devices. As of May 3, 2011, the update is also beginning to be delivered to Windows Phone 7 customers. For more information about this update, see Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 2524375.
For supported releases of Microsoft Windows, typically no action is required of customers to install this update, because the majority of customers have automatic updating enabled and this update will be downloaded and installed automatically. For more information, including how to manually install this update and how to install the update on Windows Mobile 6.x and Windows Phone 7 devices, see the Suggested Actions section of this advisory." |

BTW, I just want to point out that the gaming experience on this phone, even in it's rather infant stage, is incredibly and satisfying integrated with Xbox Live. In terms of gaming, WP7 should and will trump all other mobile phone devices. 5/31/2011 7:55:01 AM |

will threaded conversations be coming to outlook, because that would be awesome.
or let me be more clear. will threaded conversations be similar to google's implementation or the way outlook arranges by conversation (because that is worthless).

switching from my Droid X to the HTC Trophy tomorrow. I figured I've exhausted every capability of the Droid X and Gingerbread is where it finally ceases to amaze (especially with this X2 out now), and I just want something new.
Anybody else switch out from Android to WP7? What are your thoughts?
Do you know of any USB tether options for the Trophy? Thanks! 6/6/2011 3:15:39 PM |

i switched and love it
the only thing i'm unhappy with, and i'm very unhappy, is bing maps. its just not good. the maps aren't as accurate as google, ok i can live with that, but the implementation just leaves a lot to be desired: your locations from bing maps do not show up on the phone, there is no way to pull up saved locations except to start typing the name which doesn't help if you can't remember, no turn by turn, etc...
overall wp7 is much snappier and responsive then android and i think more attractive too. i think mango is going to answer a lot of the little things i wish it does, hopefully bing maps improves too. 6/6/2011 3:48:49 PM |

the same thing Apple does with a new release, quoting some ridiculous number... divide the number by roughly 50 and you'll be fairly close to the number of 'features' that are anything significant in most cases.. a majority of the rest could just be called tweaks at best

So no weird issues, call quality is all right and so forth?
As far as Windows is concerned it seems like the phones ATT has to offer all perform about the same. So I'm not going to stress about that too much. I plan on picking up the phone from Best Buy because it's $0 compared to ATT's $49.99 price. 6/13/2011 10:01:51 AM |

Though I will say, if you're planning on getting an SD card to go with it, you'll want to get either one of the Certified for Windows Phone cards or one of the ones you know will work fine. 6/13/2011 1:32:53 PM |

2nd. I have had my Windows Phone (HTC Trophy) for a week and I love that it "just works". There's never any lag and this 1 GHz Snapdragon processor just performs tremendously better than it did in my Droid X even after the Gingerbread update. Kudos to MSFT for making a quality platform. I will definitely be recommending it (probably not to my ROM/hack/tweak/overclock friends) because when speed, eye-candy, stability, and functionality are all required, this is a winning product.6/14/2011 3:35:19 PM |

A little thing I think is pretty cool
Quote : | "Other little things include the Battery Saver options, which disable all background services (e.g. automatic email fetching) and apps that run in the background. You can of course still use those features, just manually. Battery saver kicks in at about 20% battery life and you'll see a little heart-icon over the battery to let you know. Of course it is completely optional too, in fact you can enable it without hitting the 20% threshold." |

I have the Focus. First install didn't go well, and my phone sat on Step 8 of 9 Rebooting for like 2 hours before I yanked the cord and had to restore it.
Second attempt went off without a hitch. It's running now and I finally got Facebook chat showing up.
Really liking it so far; it's really quick.

The new additions to Bing are actually pretty nice. Bing Music works really well, Bing Vision(?) also works and the text translation aspect of it is pretty neat. Haven't really played with Voice (because who actually talks to a phone!) and the Local stuff is pretty nice as well.

Yes, sir.
"Beta 2" came out a while back on App Hub, though it was the first public one. It runs perfectly on my Focus. The only downside to upgrading is that there's (allegedly) no upgrade path from Mango Beta 2 -> Mango Release, so you might have to roll back to NoDo before upgrading down the line.
IMO it's more than worth that potential issue though. It really fleshes out a lot of the things that WP7 always seemed to want to do, but never really did.
I remember there allegedly being a way to turn on Visual Voicemail now (in Mango) but I can't find the article about it at the moment. I wonder how carriers are going to handle that, because when I went from the iPhone to the Focus, I had to call and get them to remove VV from my account. Hopefully they don't make everyone call and tell them to turn it on.7/11/2011 9:39:51 PM |
