I'm going to score a lot, hopefully. I have to prove to B4C that I'm a capable player.

^^Honestly I sooooooooooo wish I could. I split our team into 2 groups (defenders and Forwards). Right now 2 of our defenders will be out with me starting in goal and another one starting at center midfield. That means we have 5 defenders to fill four spots on the back line. The other reserves have been told very politely not to play fullback.

^You wish! I'm a brick wall!

Anyway, I'll see what I can do in the off season for some of you. If everyone comes back then we also will have too many players once I get a real GK and sign my brother inlaw's cousin. Andy did say he would like to get to the point where each league has 8 teams in it, so maybe some of you could start a new team.

^Yes most of us on here play Men's Open C division. There are some pretty talented teams in the league. My team is one of the bottom teams and we even have former college and high school players on roster. It's not a league for people who have never played before.

Ian said he played at Western Kentucky, but he tore up his knee and quit the team. Last year he was playing in local rec league in Kentucky in the Men's Open A Division. Warren also played Division III somewhere up in NY. Jeff could have walked on at High Point, but turned that offer down. No it isn't the ACC, but still, if they made it that far then they should be good enough to play TASL Open C division.

I would love to start playing soccer again. Is it worth getting into the player pool?

Right now? Season's over in two weeks. From what I hear it's not even worth getting in the pool unless you know one of the teams is going to pick you up. Or you're a GK. Otherwise you'll just sit there.

^^ Go to Netsports or XL Soccerworld. Wait until all the games end. A group of Latinos will enter the field. Play with them.

^^ I used to play with a bunch of hispanic guys out there during the week, 2-3 years ago. I think guys on my old spanish league team practiced out there too.

^ Same deal. Son hispanos que juegan alli. I've been going out once or twice a week, with the exception of the past couple of weeks. There's a bunch of La Liga de Raleigh guys out there, supposedly. They pretty much play every weekday as I said, and maybe weekends also, but I've never gone out on weekends.

For anyone who wants to join the league, DO PUT YOUR NAME IN THE PLAYER POOL. Andy told me he wanted to get to the point where there are 8 teams in the men's open divisions. They have 6 teams in C division right now. I got on Sporting Raleigh because TASL sent out a mass e-mail to the entire player pool and said the first to respond can join the new house team. About 17 joined. The league requires 16 to start a team and says at least 20 are needed to be safe since people often miss games. I started this thread since I knew some people on here played in men's open C. Then elduderino said he wanted to play on a team and only 17 players had signed up for the new house team, so he got on too.

The league also offers Friday Night Soccer for anyone who isn't on a team. I don't really know the details though. Call the league and ask. You could always ask the league if they will allow you to start a new team in Open C.

Ugh! The bench is looking weak! We are missing 2 defenders and another one hasn't said if he is coming. I guess we'll see how things go 12 hours from now, if we don't get caught by a possible afternoon thunderstorm.

You need a new weather provider. I see 10% chance of precipitation. 10% is like the meteorologist's way of covering their ass in case someone spits on you from a building.

^^Relax, you won again! I sent a message to my team and told them to grow up, or go play somewhere else. There is no point in yelling at the refs, or arguing with the other team, even if the refs miss some fouls. Just go score and walk away the winner.

Yeah it's odd. 99% of the people there seemed to be having a great time. Hell, I was shooting the shit and joking around with your defenders towards the end of the second half. It just always seems like there's a few bad apples (on BOTH teams) that tend to spoil it by taking everything to to the next level.

Yeah, basically theres a few guys out there who think they're in a local derby every week, when in reality they're in a Rec League at C level. Playing hard is one thing, trying to be a thug in a rec league is another.

Saturday May 8, 2010

8:00 FULLVASO vs SPORTING RALEIGH Wral 01 Centex (WCEN)

10:00 HIBERNIAN FC vs NEWCASTLE Wral 01 Centex (WCEN)

12:00 SASQUATCH vs SHEPHERD'S HOUSE WAR Wral 01 Centex (WCEN)

Last time these same 3 match ups happened at the same field it was the 9-1 loss by my team and the 3-1 win for HFC thanks to the own goal diving header. I might hang around to watch the last game.

^Yeh it isn't bad. It's way better than the pot hole at the top of the 18 yard box on DDP 3 where we played on Saturday. Sitting on the top of the rock wall also makes for a great view of the game, if you are just watching.

Nope.

I was dropped from my team.

And then last game I heard the guy in charge of the summer league going on about how they didn't have enough players for the summer league.

And someone said they should just make up names.

And I was just standing there like .

Not sure. Our current captain isn't in charge of the Summer Heat league. It's a different player on our team. I suppose he (the different player) didn't deem me fit enough of a player.

I'll make sure to keep some of you in mind, but right now we have 1 spot left and that is going to my brother inlaw's cousin who was a high school defender. Then I am also going to try to grab another GK. Once we do that then we are full. With 21 you can have 1 GK + 10 starters + 10 reserves to partner with.

I like a predictable roll, but fuck some rug burn. Someone told me they were FieldTurf originally.

At first I was like

but then I was like

If you're talking about summer ball, I'm sure there will be a spot for God. I know the whole team isn't returning. And what's the problem with taking him now? We'll probably get like 5 people to show up to our Sunday make up games the next two weeks.

My knee is starting to bum out. I hope I can make it this Saturday.

^Wait what? Are you saying some people aren't coming back in the fall, or the summer? Did I really piss them off that bad when I said to cool the engines? I'm not playing summer heat myself.

Also, ice it, or heat it. Do something! We need you on the back line again, if we want to win.

I'm just guessing that there will be some people that opt out of playing in the summer and fall. I'm sure the roster will be different. As of now, I still don't plan on being in Raleigh, but who knows, that could change.

I'll probably be good for Saturday, but my right knee feels like it's been Nancy Kerriganed.

Fullvaso 15 Sporting 2

Oh well, if Fullvaso doesn't choke again then we will play Newcastle for 5th in the league. THat isn't bad since we are in our first year.

i'm glad SHW lost today. if we win our last two we can move up to 3rd i think. (we need some help though)

we can't tie because our goal difference is piss poor. we aren't a high scoring team, but rather a defensive team. (two shutouts in a row!!)

and props to God today for a good game. dude played solid up front. i took the last 20 or so minutes off because i'd had enough. there were 4 yellow card challenges on me today. i'm sore as hell.

^We had a BS red card called against us. Our guy kicked the other guy in the back of the leg while they were going for the ball. I didn't have the best look at it from goal, but everyone said he deserved a yellow, not a red. Then the Fullvaso player punched him. Today the refs were grumpy because they finished at 9:30 pm last night and our center ref was back at 8:00 am to ref more games. Then they did the entire men's open C division today.

btw, what is up with the Newcastle captain? He dresses to play and then stays on the sideline almost the entire game. Some games he doesn't even play and tells his players where to go. I guess he thinks he's an awesome coach or something? Today he mentioned how he is 47 years old. He must be waiting for the rest of the team to catch up so they can play 40+ division?
