For whatever reason, Michael Turner, Drew Brees, Manning, Chris Johnson, Tom Brady and ray rice were taken before AP. Then a WR was taken at the 8th spot, so I took MJD at 9. I really don't know. I looked at the league settings and didn't see anything unusual.

Lucky they are dumb I guess. Still not sure about my Kolb, Flacco qb choices.

And to the guy with the option of starting two qbs....definitely should have done better for the 2nd qb. missing out on easy points there. You'll start a qb at the flex spot every week.

I'll go on the record as believing the Finley hype @ TE. He's got the speed, hands, size and team philosophy to make him one of the top TE's. McCarthy has even gone on the record as saying he will make a wager that Finley goes to the Pro Bowl this year and he has a number of things that will run through him.

Gates, Finley/Clark, Witten, Davis. There. I said it.

^^Yeah, Peterson went 1st in my draft, CJ 2nd. But then, Manning, Rodgers, Rice, Gore, Brees, Schaub (at 7 or 8 lol), Brady, Andre Johnson & Michael Turner in that order went before Maurice Jones-Drew. Needless to say, I was very happy to select MJD with the 12th pick.

I think it's because a lot of people are concerned about the MJD knee injury he's hampered with right now. Probably just useless worry, I'm sure he'll be good to go come season opener.

Ok, got a different offer now:

AP, Garrard, Mike Thomas for D. Bowe, Witten, and Palmer (I'd probably counter O. Daniels instead of Witten if I were going to accept)

My team:
QB - Jay Cutler, Carson Palmer
WR - Steve Smith (CAR), Marques Colston, D Bowe, Garcon, D. Mason, Aromashodu
RB - F. Gore, Jerome Harrison, D. McFadden
TE - Jason Witten, Owen Daniels
K - Longwell, Lindell
DEF - San Fran, NO

Thoughts?

After AJ, Moss, Wayne - you could call it a tie for 3rd between many WRs (Megatron, Brandon, Jennings, Fitzgerald, etc.)

A huge RB upgrade for a small downgrade at QB2 & WR3 and a TE that you can easily replace? Hell yes.

with this scoring setting...should I be more focused on good WRs than RBs?

what would i need to focus on?

Passing Touchdowns= 6 Points
Interceptions= -2 Points
Passing Yards 50yds=1 point

rushing tds = 6 points
rushing yards 20 yards=1 point

reception td= 6 points
reception = .5 points
reception yards 20 yards=1 point

fumbles lost = -2

^^ lets do it.

^ depends on the pick you have but if you are outside the top 5 Id grab a QB like Rodgers. 6 pt TD and only -2 INT means QBs will score the most points in the league. If you are inside the top 5 grab a RB followed by a QB. Then load up on WR.

You should target high TD throwing QB's instead of yardage QB's. For instance, Last year, Schaub threw 400 yards more than Brees, but 5 less TD's. In your league, 400 yards = 8 points, but 5 TD's = 30 points. Big difference.

This really plays out when comparing people like Eli Manning vs Brett Favre. Eli threw for the same amount of yards but 6 less TD's. You need to think about those things. Also, RB's who catch the ball and run. Aside from the top 4, Matthews, Best, Foster Steven Jackson, McCoy and others get bumps. Some of them you can get after the 1st 2 rounds, so consider taking 2 WR's w/ your first three picks depending on where you are in the draft. WR's are a premium this year, and they certainly are in your league.

Here's an example:

1) Andre Johnson
2) Matthews
3) Jennings/Boldin
4) Rivers (or best available)
5) Best RB available (Best, Foster, McCoy, etc)
6) RB
7) Top TE if available, if not another WR

My draft is tonight. And for the first time ever, in any fantasy sport, I had the #1 pick and took Chris Johnson. It's also my first time I've put money in for a league ($50)

This guy in my league wants me to trade him Ryan Mathews, but he keeps offering me Jonathan Stewart and (insert garbage player here). What kind of deal would be fair to make here given we are in a 12 team league? (Top 9 are our starters)

My Team
Brett Favre, Min QB
Joseph Addai, Ind RB
Ryan Mathews, SD RB
Andre Johnson, Hou WR
DeSean Jackson, Phi WR
Tony Gonzalez, Atl TE
Zach Miller, Oak TE
49ers D/ST, SF D/ST
Mason Crosby, GB K
Kevin Kolb, Phi QB
Tim Hightower, Ari RB
Jeremy Maclin, Phi WR
Montario Hardesty, Cle RB
Buccaneers D/ST, TB D/ST
Ahmad Bradshaw, NYG RB
Danny Amendola, StL WR

His Team
Jay Cutler, Chi QB
Frank Gore, SF RB
Jonathan Stewart, Car RB
Miles Austin, Dal WR
Reggie Wayne, Ind WR
Jermichael Finley, GB TE P
Jahvid Best, Det RB
Chargers D/ST,
Rob Bironas, Ten K
LaDainian Tomlinson, NYJ RB
T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Sea WR
Chester Taylor, Chi RB
Chad Henne, Mia QB
Bengals D/ST, Cin D/ST
Mike Williams, TB WR
Josh Cribbs, Cle WR

I wouldn't mind getting Reggie Wayne from him but I want Best as well. Who can I give him that isn't screwing myself over too much?

Being my first time ever drafting and sitting at 8/12 I think I did ok.

QB: Matt Schaub, Matt Ryan
RB: Michael Turner, CJ Spiller, Montario Hardesty , Rashad Jennings
WR: Marques Colston, Hines Ward, Bernard Berrian, Nate Burleson
TE: Antonio Gates, Dustin Keller
D/ST: Ravens, Chargers
K: Stephen Gostkowski, Robbie Gould

Not sure what mistakes I made cause like I said I've never done this before. Was it a bad idea to pick up extra QB, D/ST, and K for the weeks my main players have bye weeks?

LovedYoMoma, are you starting a tight end in a flex spot??? Anyway, you don't have enough RB depth to deal away Matthews unless you get two starters out of it.

disco_stu, a backup QB is generally smart. You'll come to see that kickers and defenses are interchangeable. I'm not big on extra TE's either.

Ooh, rate my team! rate my team!

Picking 11 out of 12, first time I ever think I've gone WR/WR

QB: Cutler, ROFL
RB: Moreno, Wells, Best, Harrison, Hardesty, Buckhalter, Barber
WR: Moss, Wayne, Berrian,
TE: Celek
D: Bears
K: Gould

Not thrilled with this team. Feel like I should've gotten an extra WR. Kind of regret choosing Moss over Mendenhall with my first selection.

Suspect QB...he might need to be replaced quickly.
RB is average...all mid level guys...nobody great and nobody bad
WR are very good. You are fine here.
TE good
DEF will need replacing based on matchups

The way I figure, Moss and Wayne start every week unless they're hurt...no matchups to worry about there.

RB's are more iffy, but with those 7 guys on 5 teams, I'm confident I can find 2-3 quality matchups every week.

Not a big Cutler fan, but Big Ben should be back by October.

interesting, but not terrible or great. Just another WR at this point.

Today's Fantasy Football News

Quote :
"Further tests have confirmed that Montario Hardesty has a torn ACL in his left knee, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

He'll miss the entire 2010 season as a result. This comes a a major blow to the rookie, especially when you consider that Jerome Harrison has struggled throughout the preseason. James Davis now figures to back up Harrison, though Peyton Hillis will be in the mix as well."

Quote :
"T.J. Houshmandzadeh is increasingly unlikely to play for the Seahawks this season, according to the Seattle Times.

It sounds more and more like the Seahawks may indeed cut him if they're unable to find a trade partner. His fantasy value certainly takes a hit, though he should latch on elsewhere before long, this assuming that he is indeed no longer in Seattle. "

Quote :
"Ben Roethlisberger's original six-game suspension has been reduced to four games, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Expected all along. Big Ben has been on good behavior since his original punishment by the NFL. He'll be back under center in Week 6 against Cleveland following a Week 5 bye."

Quick question, which d/st should I pick up and start for week one?

Available D/ST: Week one matchup:
Cincy NE
Denver @ JAX
Carolina @ NYG
Arizona @ STL
San Diego @ KC

Carolina's Defense is just a good defense to have. If you're specifically interested in week 1 matchups, I would look at Arizona or STL. Out of those three, Carolina is the better D, but Arizona has the best matchup. If Bradford starts for them, Arizona could very well house a pick or two.

I would be hesitant to start Jackson on week 1, even if he is slated to play. He's coming off a hand injury and Spiller has looked great in the preseason. Plus, Marshawn Lynch is back in action.

I'd start Maclin and Knox if you don't have another RB option.

Today's Fantasy Football News

Quote :
"The Cardinals released QB Matt Leinart. Everyone knew he'd been relegated to #2 but this outright release raised a few eyebrows. Apparently, the team felt Leinart wouldn't be able to accept the backup role. If anything, it makes sense from the aspect that he just didn't fit with what coach Ken Whisenhunt wanted to do. It's pretty interesting it would take this long for them to reach that conclusion but it is what it is. Derek Anderson obviously now is solidified as the #1 guy unless you have a lot of faith in Max Hall. If only Kurt Warner had Brett Favre's retirement attitude..."

Quote :
"The Seahawks cut WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh. The big upside here is it looks like Mike Williams will get a second chance to show what he can do. It doesn't hurt that he's reunited with his college coach where he was incredibly successful. For what it's worth, Chad Ochocinco has said he'd "lobby heavily" for the Bengals to sign Houshmandzadeh."

Quote :
"Washington released RB Willie Parker. This isn't a surprise but clarifies the RB rotation there where Clinton Portis and Larry Johnson will get bulk of the work."

Quote :
"It's not a player movement, but the Rams have surprised no one and named QB Sam Bradford the starter for Week 1. It'll be trial by fire but the young man has looked excellent thus far and the team is hoping the "Peyton Manning" style of throwing them in from the start will pay dividends."

Quote :
"And the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that the Steelers are leaning toward starting QB Charlie Batch and not Dennis Dixon in Week 1."

Go with Maclin and Knox.

Just finished the draft. I know QB is really weak, any other glaring weaknesses. Standard scoring non-ppr 12 teams. Also should I drop Gerhart for Snelling as a handcuff for Turner

QB Kevin Kolb
RB Michael Turner
RB Ryan Mathews
RB/WR Jahvid Best
WR Greg Jennings
WR Mike Wallace
TE Dallas Clark
D Vikings
K Robbie Gould

Bench
Santonio Holmes
Johnny Knox
Michael Bush
Jabar Gaffney
Nate Burleson
Jerricho Cotchery

How fucked up is this team? I'm a complete noob and have no idea what to do with Hardesty? I assume you drop him, but I didn't know if there was some kind of process when you end up with an injured player. This league is H2H, so to give solid advice I guess The Guru would need to know rules and current matchup's roster to offer any advice or...?

Rate my team! just had a draft, 8-team, non-ppr league. I had the 5th pick. Standard yahoo scoring, except 5pts per passing TD, 1pt per 15 passing yards, -1pt for INTs, 1pt per 20 kickoff/punt return yards, 1pt per 10 yards rush/receiving

QB - Aaron Rodgers
WR - Desean Jackson
WR - Anquan Boldin
WR - Percy Harvin (news just came out today that he would be the primary kickoff returner and would also share in the punt return game, didnt know that going into the draft)
RB - Frank Gore
RB - Pierre Thomas
TE - Jermichael Finley
K - Ryan Longwell
DEF - Pittsburgh
BN - Arian Foster, Matt Forte, Jerome Harrison, Dez Bryant, Malcolm Floyd, Big Ben

how do you think I did?

I'm pretty happy with my team, NyM410 and ncstatetke are both in this league too and both have solid teams. I especially like NYM's team
