if the knicks can get paul, howard, or deron then yeah they can win the title those are three of the very best players in the league.

But from what ive read they arent likely to have enough cap room to make that happen.

Carmelo is a supporting player, he's not an elite player like the other three mentioned.

He did play great in the Olympics (2004 also) that part Simmons is right about.

The rest he is pretty much off base. Carmelo is simply not a great player or at least he has not been one yet.

Bill Simmons is also kind of a full of himself douche now.

Anyway, was watching the Lakers-Thunder and turned over to Pittsburgh-Louisville at halftime. Forgot just how absurdly bad college ball is relative to a good NBA game. You never really notice unless you're flipping back and forth.

bill simmons predicted the wizards to win 36 games this year. He hasnt been right about much lately in basketball. In fact his NBA predictions have been god awful.

OKC looks great now they got rid of two awful players Green and Krstic and added two solid big men. I think they can win the West.

I'm dissapointed in anyone who takes Simmons opinion on actual basketball seriously. He's good for a laugh and he's got some valid points, but he's not a sports writer. He's a fan who happens to write about sports. Thats a big difference. Read Simmons all you want, but for real basketball insight, stick with the folks at 82 games, realgm, etc.

knicks looked good tonight and miami is still dragging their feet. They are really missing Haslem they haven't found anyone to pick up the slack since they lost him.

Carmelo shows that he can be a great player when he wants to be in a game like tonight, he just doesn't give that kind of effort consistently.

So we'll see. I still think NY is going down convincingly round 1 regardless of the opponent. If Chicago goes into the playoffs healthy they have the best interior now by far with Perkins gone.

He might not give the effort consistently, but there are lots of players who don't (ie Lebron giving up in the playoffs last year, when it actually mattered)

But the fact that you admit that Carmelo can be a great player is a big step for you catching up with the rest of basketball fans who recognize the blatantly obvious, congratulations on your breakthrough to reality

The west is no pushover. Everyone knows LA, San antonio, and Oklahoma City are powerhouses but Dallas is pretty damn good and Portland quietly has three superstars to go along with Camby and Miller.

the West is certainly no push-over, but they're also not nearly as good as a few years back when they had guys like Melo, Amare, Boozer, Deron, etc

^^Denver was in the Western finals 2 years ago, Utah has never been able to get over the hump but they've been a solid team the last 25 years, point is, a number of superstars have gone from West to East over the last few years

hahaha wait a minute let me see how many funny things i can think of in 20 seconds (tosh rip off)

#1 Donald Sterling is a slumlord who has been sued many times by underpriveleged folks

#2 black history month is in february that game is in march

#3 donald sterling takes up half the page and he is white

#4 blake griffin is at least half white

#5 the free ticket goes to the child but he must be accompanied by an adult who we can assume must purchase a full price ticket. Hey we dont have bread or running water because i spent $40 on a clippers ticket and $25 on parking

haha okay i only got to 5 but im sure i coulda squeezed two more if i didnt have to pee so bad

I don't know, it seems like denver was almost trying to get rid of him, or were just desperate to get felton, neither makes a lot of sense but it seems like new york would have been content to keep felton as he fits the system better

billups is still slightly better than felton but as old as he's getting that could reverse itself as early as next season.

Big point guards tend to age pretty well, particularly since he's more of a shooter than a penetrator...

Billups is a nice upgrade if they think they can add an elite big man like Dwight Howard.

If they have their aim on CPIII, perhaps Billups makes better trade fodder as he's a quality player that will only have 1 year remaining on his contract. A few teams would likely be willing to take him on for a season (Atlanta, LAL, Portland, etc)

^^ that's the speculation is that they will not be able to land another max contract FA and therfore it's a stupid trade.

But that's not all set in stone just yet. Dwight could force the issue and they could work out some crazy trade like Chauncey, Landry, Shelden/Shawne, Turiaf, 3 first rounders, and $3 million

You can't rule anything out yet we don't know the new CBA rules. It could all work out for the Knicks but it's pretty unlikely right now. The almighty dollar ultimately wins usually. Hell, just look at what happened here. When it came down to it money was more important than championships for Carmelo.

Billups make twice as much as Felton and both their contracts expire after next year. It was a pure money move for Denver.

'Melo not having a great game at all but the Knicks still beating a good team. Billups is stone cold. Gotta love three 20 point scorers before the end of the third quarter.

Not gonna lie....definitely didn't see Kevin Love being this good in the NBA. I thought he might be a solid 12 and 8 kinda guy...not an All-Star. He's a rebounding machine. Two more games to match Moses Malone consecutive double doubles record.

LeBron never posts up. He doesn't have a single back-to-the-basket move. All he wants to do is barrel to the cup over and over and over and over again. Pat Riley needs to buy him some McHale drill DVDs.
