Can someone tell me how TOB has changed the offense to fit Glennon? What's going to be different. I assume he has a better arm than RW.

^^from what i understand, more snaps under center, which will lead to more conventional running plays. probably different blocking schemes as well since they dont have to prepare for as many bootlegs and happy feet

Find a torrent of a BC game with Ryan under center. I'm just guessing, but I think it will be pretty similar.

Actually, those hats look just like something most of our fans would wear. Mostly the last two.

I mean, they have tried to make "WOLFPACK IN THE HOUSE" a school slogan.

^ I think the WITH slogan is more a product of our shitty marketing and SID folks than our fans calling for it. I mean, what State fan rolls into a bar, sees a bunch of other people in State gear and turns to his buddy and says, "yo man, this is awesome. WOLFPACK IN THE HOUSE!!!"?...We may not always be the classiest bunch, but we're not lame douchefucks either.

Count the number of people in Oakleys and jorts at our next tailgate.

I'll bet they're also huge Parrotheads for some reason.

And I call bullshit of some of you being above "WOLFPACK IN THE HOOOOUSE!", because when I made a thread about getting rid of the Kevin Nash yell at games, you people defended that shit.

If we're going to go 90s wrestling, at least do it right.

also, razor ramone? that's about the fruitiest thing you could have posted. go back to chapel hill.

if anything, we should use Konnan's theme song. it would go well with the mexi-cam.

this is interesting. surprised HD is so high on us and the tarholes. didnt see it posted elsewhere:

Quote :
"Post-Spring Power Rankings
1. Florida State: Quarterback EJ Manuel took over the offense from the perspective of both a leader and a playmaker, and the defense showed significant progress in the second season under coordinator Mark Stoops. No other team in the conference returns as many starters (18), and the nation's No. 1 recruiting class will only add to the depth and competition this summer.

2. Virginia Tech: Those within the program raved about the progress quarterback Logan Thomas made this spring, and he erased whatever doubts might have lingered about whether he was ready to take over as starter. David Wilson is talented enough that the running game shouldn't miss a beat without Darren Evans and Ryan Williams, and both lines should be better.

3. North Carolina: Quarterback Bryn Renner finished the spring with a strong grasp on the starting job, and he's got one of the most talented groups of receivers in the ACC to throw it to. The offensive line could be the best it's been under coach Butch Davis, and all four starters return on the defensive line.

4. NC State: Coach Tom O'Brien has heaped praise on quarterback Mike Glennon, and the team was the healthiest and deepest it has been during a spring under O'Brien. For the first time in the past four years, there were no walk-ons in the two-deep depth chart, and every player was in the position best suited for him instead of the one in which he was most needed.

5. Clemson: Quarterback Tajh Boyd was inconsistent in his first spring as a starter, but that was to be expected, as he's learning an entirely new scheme under first-year coordinator Chad Morris. Clemson should again be strong defensively, despite the loss of six starters. The Tigers haven't found their identity yet, though, as they'll take on a whole new look this summer once their top-10 recruiting class arrives on campus.

6. Miami: The lack of a starting quarterback remains Miami's biggest hurdle, but the Hurricanes also are going to struggle to replace kicker/punter Matt Bosher. With a strong summer, Miami has a chance to move up, as the Canes have a deep, talented group of running backs, experience returning on both lines, and enough talent that they should be a contender in the Coastal Division regardless of whether it's Jacory Harris or Stephen Morris leading the offense.

7. Boston College: The Eagles return their statistical leaders from 2010 in rushing, passing, receiving, tackles, sacks and interceptions -- the only program in the ACC that can make that claim. Quarterback Chase Rettig made progress this spring under first-year coordinator Kevin Rogers, and there is enough experience that the Eagles should again be considered a contender for the Atlantic Division title.

8. Maryland: First-year coach Randy Edsall revealed little about his team this spring, but he did say he was pleased with the progress the team made in learning the new schemes. The staff was able to evaluate the personnel and finished the spring confident it has the right players in the right positions. Quarterback Danny O'Brien, the ACC's 2010 Rookie of the Year, did everything the staff asked him to and then some.

9. Duke: Coach David Cutcliffe said quarterback Sean Renfree had a great spring, and he has the potential -- and the receivers -- to lead the Blue Devils out of the ACC cellar. Duke has one of the fastest defenses seen in Durham in a long time, although it remains to be seen whether it will stop anyone. Duke still needs to show improvement on the defensive line but got an instant upgrade with the hire of Rick Petri.

10. Georgia Tech: Quarterback Tevin Washington is still the starter, but Synjyn Days closed the gap with a strong performance in the spring game. The defense has improved in the second season of Al Groh's 3-4 scheme, but it was going against an offensive line that had a subpar spring. Special teams also is still in need of improvement, but the overall attitude of the team was better this spring.

11. Wake Forest: Coach Jim Grobe has said this team is better than the one that finished 3-9 last season, but it's still a young group. The Deacs return all but two starters on defense, and four starters return on the offensive line. Wake Forest still needs some playmakers to emerge at wide receiver and for Garrick Williams to make a successful transition in taking over for former center Russell Nenon.

12. Virginia: The Cavaliers still have four candidates vying to be the starting quarterback, and about six receivers were injured this spring, making the evaluation of both groups difficult. The defense should be a strength, and the team will be helped by the arrival of an impressive recruiting class, but the lack of experience at quarterback should be a concern."

I know every team has injuries, but the past 4 years (especially TOB's first 3) we have been absolutely ravaged by injuries...a startling amount of injuries. I don't follow other teams closely enough to know if their number/severity of injuries are comparable to ours (I know UNC fans whine about injuries a lot) but I'd be shocked if another ACC team has had the amount of injuries we had in TOB's first 3 years. We had some last year, but nothing compared to the previous 3 years. I don't really know where to find a "games missed due to injury" stat for teams though.

Those rankings are okay, but I think she has UNC and Clemson ranked too high and Maryland too low. I'll be happy if we can finish 2nd in the Atlantic, but I see us choking away a few winnable games (@BC, home vs Maryland, and we never beat Clemson), giving BC or Maryland the 2nd spot.

I was at the Coaches Caravan last night in Lumberton and got the chance to meet with tob. He was shy and didnt like the circus at all. At times when he didnt have people bombarding him he seemed almost awkward. However he was taller than I remember. He did make several comments of note however:

1. On compliance issues, he said he was actually on the ethic's committee and then named several other coaches who were on it with him, so I took that to mean he is on the committee for the whole NCAA??? He went on to tell that yesterday alone he had 2 compliance issues that he had to contact the compliance dep't about:
a. He wanted to attend Dana Bible's son's playoff baseball game, but because we are in an "evaluation period" he couldnt go to the game even though he had known the kid since he was 2.
b. Asa Watson has been/will be going on a 6 week mission trip and tried to raise money to pay for it, but due to the regulations about giving to student athletes, has been unable to receive funding.
2. Glennon has an extremely strong arm, which we knew, but he went on to say that he thought he was better than either of the Hasselbeck brothers, Brian St. Pierre, or Ryan.
3. A push had been made for coaches at a non-acc school in the south who have had several secondary violations for which they had not been punished to be suspended.

NCAA has wonky rules where during certain times of the year you can't even look at potential recruits, even those you know outside of the context of actual recruiting, for fear it may give you a leg up on the competition. One of a million ways in which the whole process is fucked.

Some SEC coach has broken lots of rules, not been punished and now someone (compliance committee?) is pushing to have the coach punished.

Sounds odd to me that TOB would be spreading packpride-level gossip.

ssjamind's predictions for how the coming season will culminate:

1. Florida State: 18 returning starters will make all the difference.

2. NC State: O-line & D-line make this the quintessential TOB team. We will play "run first football", averaging 4 yards per carry, and Glennon will be an apt game manager.

3. Virginia Tech: O-line & D-line will keep Va Tec playing Beamer-ball.

4. Maryland: Still has a lot of athletes & Danny O'Brien will carry a lot of the burden.

5. Georgia Tech: Lot of moving parts and gaps to watch out for, but will finally come together. Well coached.

6. Clemson: Lots of athletes & open playbook, but I'm not to high on their coaching.

7. North Carolina: Lots of athletes, but lack of football IQ starting at the top and ending with a new QB, will keep University of Brokeback Mountain out of the top half.

8. Miami: Wildcard. If instituting a run first offense, could do better.

9. Boston College: Better on paper than on the field. Been riding on TOB era momentum, which is now waning.

10. Wake Forest: Young and lacking athleticism but coached well enough to stay out of 11th or 12th place.

11. Duke: Duke being Duke. Could end higher & will pull a few upsets.

12. Virginia: Need to bring strength and conditioning systems up to ACC standards.
