This is why the Big East tournament is more fun to watch. ACC officials bump up the free throw advantage for UNC/Duke and don't let teams play. The entire game is decided at the FT line.

When will somebody speak out about having the tournament in Greeensboro every year? Its obviously only one reason to do it and thats to hand it to UNC/Duke every year with the homecourt advantage. Not to mention they play a few regular season games there each year plus they get good and used to it for the NCAA tournament. Such an obvious scam and nobody calls it out. Lets move it around to some nice destinations.

Tampa
Orlando
Atlanta(Phillups)
SC(BI-LO or Charleston)
Charlotte
Washington
Boston

So many better cities with better arenas and advantages for teams besides Duke and UNC.

but for one thing, Greensboro gives Wake and State advantages too, assuming they are decent

Charlotte pretty much has the same UNC/Duke/Wake/State advantage

I remember when Gary Williams was bitching about never having the tournament closer to Maryland, and so they hold the ACC tourney in Washington, DC, and Maryland loses their Thursday game

I don't think Florida would be a good idea though...Miami and FSU fans don't care about basketball, and from the ACC Football Title game in Florida a few years back with shitty attendance, I think the conference would be smarter keeping the tourney on tobacco road

I went in DC and it was packed. Take off your bias for a minute and realize there are more teams in the ACC. The fans the care will go regardless of where it is. Its the fans the don't care that won't go to places that suck or are far away. This is why right now you get very few fans from places outside of NC because NOBODY wants to go to a shitty town like Greensboro for spring.


Also you must have not watched the seats during this tournament because all the games that didn't include Duke or UNC were EMPTY. VT FSU game was about 1/4th full.

Tampa wasn't packed but it was a great tournament. (Best i've been to)

Honorable Mention: Jeff Allen, and ^^ and whomever thinks that Greensboro isn't the best place for the ACCT. Charlotte was ok when they had a 23K building. Atlanta is the only city besides Greensboro and CLT that even remotely makes sense and it still wouldn't cut it on a consistent basis. Of course DC was fun in 2005, but if they had it in DC 3 out of 5 years it would be terrible. Same with Tampa.

it's in Atlanta (Philips, not Georgia Dome thank god) and then Greensboro for at least 2012, 2013, and either 2014 or 2015.

Here's what the rotation should be: Greensboro, Greensboro, (ATL/CHA/WSH), Greensboro, Greensboro, (ATL/CHA/WSH), etc.

greensboro is where the acc headquarters is...plus it is tradition

i think you have to remember that NC is geographically in the center of the ACC as well... it is a good "middle" ground spot...

same thing can be argued about the acc championship in football... attendance was pathetic down in florida... bring it up to NC and you got a nice crowd (granted it was vt and fsu also)

They certainly got what they wanted. A UNC/Duke final to hype up. Talk about how awesome it is to have the biggest rivals facing off in the final. Talk about how long it has been since it happened. Talk about how they continue to meet in these "all stakes" games. Etc. They'll get their desired match up to milk their protected cash cow.

Well I'm tuning out. Maybe one year ratings will start to suffer because they do nothing but usher UNC and Duke to the top and people finally get tired of seeing the rerun year after year. So in their attempts to boost interest by helping UNC and Duke they're really only turning people off.
