Twitter expert consensus is system not a fit which makes sense. High post offense more conducive to shooters and not slashers... but is that not something you flesh out in the initial recruitment?

I can kind of see that, but not really. Purvis had plenty of shot attempts (relative to his playing time) this year. He just couldn't finish. He's also a decent 3-point shooter, so it's not like he has no shot at all.

Rumors on Pack Pride are that Gott wanted him gone. Said he started complaining about playing time, convinced Randle not to commit, and then kept pouting through practice.

Not sure I buy any of it, but something is going on. Instead of playing 35 minutes a game here next year, he'd rather sit out a year somewhere else? One good season here and he could head to the NBA. Factor in the fact that he's from Raleigh, and that Yow worked her ass off to get him eligible this year, and something just doesn't add up.

yeah again I don't see how this reflects well on purvis at all, he would have had all the playing time he wanted this yr, he should of gone to kentucky if he wanted to be a one a done, he seems like a calipari type player

I know y'all hate it when I bring up Herb, but this situation comes up a lot with him, too.

Corey Hawkins and Victor Rudd both cited lack of promised playing time as their reason for transferring. Coaches really need to watch what they say these days, especially in the era of 1- or 2-and-done players

^^^^ Lying to kids (or at least exaggerating) is a reality of recruiting. The job of the coach is to reset expectations and get them to buy in once they're on campus.

If our recruiting pitch was "Well, we have an open position next year that you could play but if you suck I'm going to bench your ass" our roster would look like Gary Williams' the year he retired

anyway when you have a team that was underperforming, hitting the reset button can actually be a good thing (leslie and brown leaving didn't seem like that big of a deal to me, IMO they weren't really superstars anyways just solid players) but enough is enough so if warren or lewis leave now then the program feels like its cursed

I'll miss Purvis's enthusiasm, hustle, athleticism and bench celebrations. Dude really loves playing basketball. I'll cheer for him wherever he goes. Hopefully he learns how to shoot over the next year.
