He just seems a lot like Rashad McCants. Great shooter with a scorer's mentality and NBA body, but he's just such a selfish dumbass that he could cause problems on or off the court. He never passed the ball at UNC and apparently that was true in the NBDL as well.

The word out of his NBDL team is that he's a primadonna. Not a Cho guy.

I don't give a shit where PJ went to school. He'd be a wasted pick because he's a small volume shooter. If we wanted a 3 point threat from chapel hill we should just trade the 24 for Bullock, who was better than Hairston

Really don't agree Reggie is better, but that's neither here nor there. Regardless, fair points all around (wasn't so hard was it? )

I always thought Green was much better than Ellington although I didn't expect either to do much in the pros. Also was surprised McCants was a complete bust. Just throwing that out there while we're on TWW: IC Edition

McCants put up decent stats when he played. He shot pretty well and willingly took on a scorer's role in Minnesota. His issue was primarily his attitude / lack of discipline. Dude was just a headcase and not a team player. Hairston may be cut from the same cloth.

I think the Bobcats take Young or Stauskas at 9 unless a guy like Randle or Vonleh slides to them. Or they could flip that #9 pick for a proven guy like Afflalo.

"It looks like we all agree he's incredibly overrated and comes with baggage... are you agreeing with us?"

No not particularly. I'm not denying he's got issues that need vetting, but for where he's slated in the draft I would call that a bargain vs being overrated. The main difference between him and mccants is I've actually seen pj show some contrition over what he did wrong, whereas mccants was always the victim at all his stops. Basically, the hornets could do worse at 24 if they stay put

So you thinking trading up to grab AT BEST the 4th shooting guard on the board is a "bargain"?

Do us all a favor and take your ass back to IC.

Recaps from Chad Ford at the predraft workouts on some guys we're looking at. Both seem to be doing well.

Quote :
"
Gary Harris

Shot really well, really tight handle. A lot of teams are looking at him to play combo or just point so they put him through a ball handling workout that he did really well at. Said he expects Harris to remain a lottery pick and possibly a top 10 pick. Said we are an interesting destination because he can play alongside Kemba and alleviate Kemba at times during the game.

James Young

Eventhough he had worked out less than others he looked just as sharp. Physically imposing next to the others and could possibly still get bigger. Scouts believe his streakiness is because he was one of the only pure wing scorers on Kentucky so he had to take a lot of shots that he shouldn't have. One of the real sleepers in the draft and should be mentioned with the other elite wings. More scouts called about him than any other player. We are giving him serious looks."

When I look at what the smart teams do with late first rounders, I usually either see them take legit college superstars who have NBA projection concerns (Blair, Sullinger), a guy with size or a euro to stash

Pj fits none of the above

I'm not a fan of the James Young pick. There are too many things about his game that need to be corrected. I understand he is young and can develop with experience....but I don't want another physical specimen that lacks intelligence and needs proper coaching. (see Bismack)

I would prefer a high intelligence prospect that needs to fine tune aspects of their game to translate to the NBA.

I would like to see the Hornets trade back to the mid teens and pick up Warren. I know it is a homer pick, but his intelligence is a major plus. He is easily coached and has a calm demeanor, which can be invaluable in a young NBA player. How many times did he get fucked over by the refs and keep his cool? Having that kind of demeanor is a HUGE plus.

I don't like Warren on this team. Yeah he can score, but they need shooters who are a threat from the perimeter to free up the lane so Al can go to work. Warren scores most of his points within 15 feet.

I would like Hairston at 24. He's a volume chucker, but Gary Neal is the only reliable 3 point shooter we have.

Unless you're trying to win a championship next year, you should be taking the best player over need. With 24 your chances at landing a legit contributor are already small. Limiting them even further by trying to fit the player in a box makes it even harder. Al might not even be here in 3 years.

You think 3M/yr is way overpricing CDR? Cause I would sign him for that and not feel like I overpaid.

I'd actually be thrilled if they got him for 2 years at 6M

It's a 500 percent raise, and I'm not convinced last year wasn't a fluke. I don't mind paying him that much only if it doesn't impede their plans with Mcroberts, draft picks, and any other FAs.

They have a job listing on their website for someone to be the new Hugo mascot. Why couldn't they just keep the dude who wore the Rufus suits for all these years?

On board the Stauskas train. Guy has an effortless jump shot and makes play after play.

At #9, I'd take
1. Stauskas
2. Harris
3. Young
4. McDermott

I don't want Lance Stephenson on this team.

Last night was just the icing on the cake. There have been red flags with him his whole career, and getting a big deal might be the worst thing that could happen to him.

^Yes, please no Lance.

I mean when asked last night, even Paul George was like "I don't know if I want him back here or not" haha.

What a clown.

that's not what paul george said at all.

Quote :
"I mean, I don't know. That's for Larry, Kevin to decide. It would be great, we came into this league together. It would be great for us to continue our journey together. He’s played a huge year this whole season and in this postseason. He’s definitely put pressure on us to make decisions going forward with Lance."

let's take more quotes out of context.

That a non-committal response though. You can see right through that stump he gave him at the end as it was thinly veiled.

It would have been real easy to say something like "Absolutely. Lance is a key player on this team and great teammate in the locker room. The Pacers really need him moving forward to get over the hump and get to the Finals next year." But he didn't. He said it was up to management.

Ha! George isn't a superstar (yet), but he was by far the Pacers best player in the playoffs, not just leading them in scoring, defense, etc but coming through repeatedly in the clutch.

Good gd, if they take Doug McDermott at #9... yuck.

Just reach on Warren at #9 and call it a day. He's hometown guy, obviously loads of scoring ability, and could help the team win next year.

McDermott will always be a liability on defense, has a crappy wingspan, is not very athletic and, like Hansdoush, was able to cover up his huge deficiencies in college with "hustle".

He's junk isn't gonna translate to NBA, and is simply not worth a top 10 draft pick.

Warren is a huge stretch at #9. They could trade up a little further if they REALLY wanted him (for fanny in seat purposes), maybe give up the 2nd pick and a future 2nd rounder. But the 9th pick needs to be for someone with a proven 3 point shot.

Mcdermott seems to be the next Adam Morrison to me. I'm hoping for Julius Randle to fall to #9. For the #24 spot, either Hood, Hairston or Warren would be good.

McDermott is twice the shooter Morrison ever was. Also, his knee ligaments are intact.

I don't like the Hornets spacing or offensive flow if you pair Al with Randle. They are both ball-dominant post guys with limited range and no rim-protection. Better to pair Al with Vonleh or Payne, maybe even Saric or Nurkic.

Gimme Stauskas at #9.
