heres their rules. pretty hot, i would have done it, but i have a busy month, and plan on spending the last 3 weeks of the month at the beach with no internet access.
Quote : | " This has all come together really nicely and has happened pretty quickly as well. So this is the first real official compilation of everything so far.
MTT Team Challenge (May 2006) Official Rules
Rosters Due to all the interest we have received the rosters will be 5 men each. Each roster will contain a captain and four draftees. There is no set composition needed for a roster, however, you must remember that you will be scored in various categories, including low buyins, so it is advantageous to select members from each category.
Category A - < $10 MTTs Category B - $11-$99 MTTs Category C - > $100 MTTs
Scoring Each team will be assigned a seperate email address to send their weekly TLB scores to, each week scores will be tabulated and standings will be posted.
Each team will be ranked 1-12 in the following categories:
-Top 20 TLB points in Cat A -Top 20 TLB points in Cat B -Top 15 TLB points in Cat C -Top 25 TLB points overall -Wins
1st in each category receives 12 points 12th receives 1 point
Also, all scores from ALL players will count towards final team score in any category, not just the one you are listed as.
Draft The draft will start Monday April 24th. Picks can be PM'd to me by the first few picks whenever and the draft will take place as the picks go in a sticky thread a top this forum. The draft will be run in a serpentine form, meaning 12th in round 1 picks 1st in round 2.
01 - dmk 02 - Matt24 03 - mikeymer 04 - MLG 05 - nath 06 - Ansky 07 - Exitonly 08 - Superfluous Man 09 - gobboboy 10 - Ogre 11 - NHFunkii 12 - ActionBob
Entry Fees $6000 per team. Tiered so that Cat C players pay the most, however exact figures can be left up to each team. Captains then send me the entry on Poker Stars.
I will be posting the final list of players in this thread in a very short while. I have included all the players who regged late too, however, reg is closed here.
Now...... The new stuff.
This Sunday, April 23rd is MTT Combine day Dont know if you will get drafted? Want to increase your draft stock? Well this sunday is the day to do it. Starting at 12:00ET a MTT Combine thread will be posted where all the players who want to can post their results in the Sunday tourneys. There is something for everyone, from the $215, to the $10 Deep Stacks and even our very own Maniac Rebuyfest! So hop on Stars and start playing this Sunday. ~Justin " |

Should have folded preflop. Don't put in half your chips preflop. Fold or push all-in.

So what happens when thre are overs on the flop and you don't set up? You were going to call and then fold after the flop after you had risked 1/2 of your chips??? That's a much better idea...4/26/2006 10:54:44 AM |

tricky hand, but we cant get too involved over the final result, even though it sucks.
let's start from the beginning.
its a FT, so the $EV at this point is really starting to come into play in relation to the cEV.

odly enough, theres only like two guys who are wayyy short, but this does come into play however. One's on the BB in two hands with an M of like 1.5, he needs to be the first one out for sure. The second is right behind with another low M. you are getting short sure, but in no way desperate. Everyone at the table sees this, and doesnt want to fuck something up in order to not place higher than them. Usually this is a good spot to steal from, but an even better spot to resteal from.....
Most of how i would have played this hand depends on my read fromthe CL, or in this case who we tangle with. The most important thing here, is what types of hands is he willing to make this move with, but not just push over top of your raise. the standard play there is just to push, but i think that you would have had an easier fold.
Has he been active? Has he been stealing/restealing liberally without getting caught? How many hands has he been open raising with? RRing with? what hands have you seen him show down?
More than likely, you opened up the 2nd table when there were 20 left or so in order to get an early start on a few reads.
What is his range here is the most important part in our decision, preflop.
for me, if youve been really tight and folded to a few resteals, im going bananas with a chip lead of AJ+, TT+ here and just pushing.
to this range, (i dont have pokerstove on me now, im in a lab) i believe is a slight favorite. This may be one of those instances where you have the equity to call, but due to game conditions its proper to take a bit of -cEV for more $EV. by folding your proper equity.
now if hes wide open and could be doing this with air, and only RR'd me, im repushing and hating the fact he woke up with a big hand.
preflop poker is so key on final tables.
your raise size is also a bit strange.
why bet 3.125 BB, when if the table is acting like a reg. mtt ft, a raise of 2.5xbb will do for a nice steal?
also, you are committing like 1/3 of your chips here on an open raise, which is never good. on his RR, you cant just call as has been said. its push or fold. you cant put like 50 some odd percent of your chips in preflop..... any flop will scare you and you cant c-bet or anything. you can do nothing really, and have no room to work. if you check fold over 1/2 your stack away, you are the new target.
the flop plays itself. you cant c-bet, you cant c/r. youre stuck.
the turn pretty much blows, but we shouldnt have gottent his far anyways.
equity equity equity.
sure he came up with a big hand this time, but what was your equity against his range with this pot, balancing the cEV with the $EV.
dont take this as comming down on the hand, im not.
thats a terrible spot to be in early in a FT, and a very tough hand.
I would say more, but ive gotta be in class in 50 seconds.

Yeah. What did you put him on, 99? You could have at least re-raised after the flop if you really thought you had him beat at that point.4/26/2006 11:37:03 AM |

1. it was $56 2. i said im doing this because you played your AK weakly and then you agreed to run it 2x
I said weakly bc you played AK the exact same way every time, i was more of a lesson which i announced b4 the call
if you make a real raise pf like to 12, it doesnt happen
you raise 5 utg with it, so i min reraise and say here is a lucky minreraise just
also 50 bucks isnt really that big of a deal when I have a stack of like 400
it made a really tight table loosen up, and i ended up cashing 1300 that night

this was where you messed up, IMO. You check raised with top pair, bad kicker, out of position. This is generally not a good move, and when he called you should have been a little concerned. I probably would have checked instead of betting 200 on the turn, then if he bets you can get away from your hand, but that's just me. We don't play anything close to the same style and I'm certainly not accomplished enough to tell you how to play.

no i mean i am open to criticism
I took his instacall of the check raise as a typical online AQ or AJ call or maybe some kind of mid underpair
Like i said, i wanted to take control of the hand and leading out first to act never really accompishes that online unless it is for a larger bet
My problem is the turn, I probably should have bet in the 400 range, but then again I was trying not to commit myself to that pot with K7
o well
