^ One of the places where a lot of weddings are held closed down in Charleston and the owner took off with over $50,000 worth of deposits. But a bunch of other places around town banded together and offered the engaged couples free ceremonies. It was pretty awesome. Only drawback was that a lot of the weddings had to be moved to Fridays or Sundays because every place down here is so booked up. But cool nonetheless.

Approved catering lists really don't mean anything. A lot of places you just have to call up and ask "hey, can I get on your approved catering list?"

No, our venue was pretty damn specific. It had to be vendors that they've had a lot of business with in the past.

Gah we still haven't set our date yet. It will probably between August-early November 2012.

We want our marriage license to say July 18, 2012 on it, though, but have our actual church ceremony and reception in Fall 2012. Will this be possible?

July 18th is the wedding anniversary date for both sets of parents (bizarre, eh?) but unfortunately this year it lands on a Wednesday I was really looking forward to having the sentimental date

well in South Carolina, the marriage license doesn't expire so long as you get married in SC

so you could have it say July 18th, much get married much later in the year

but in NC, the license expires in 60 days

well you could go to the court house and get married on July 18th and then have the wedding and ceremony in the fall.

^^Man! That's what I like to hear. bmel, I was thinking about doing your idea but I was HOPING in SC the license didn't expire and so we could do what StillFuchsia said. I think it's gonna happen that way (or at least I hope)

the only downside to SC is the 24-hour waiting period for the license

so you'd have to apply on July 17th to have the license say the 18th

but pretty much all they need from you guys are names and social security numbers

super simple when we got it two weeks ago in Charleston

Ehhh, you already got a lot of help in the ladies section, and you answered more questions there, and some options I posted were not your style And WAY cheaper. Haha.

Grandma is going to make my garter

She also gave me the pearls Grandpa bought for her on their first anniversary, and Mama is giving me her sister's pearl earrings that she bought for her wedding, but never got to wear. She died of lymphoma a few months after getting engaged. I feel very special!

CONGRATS TO THE NEWEST TDUB NEWLYWEDS!

also, I need to find shoes. I'm wearing converses to the reception, but mom convinced me to get better shoes for the ceremony. I'm wearing a champagne colored ballgown, and you probably won't see them, but I might put them in my shadowbox of curio afterwards. I'd like something flat, blue, and awesome. Any ideas? would like to spend ~100 dollar bucks.

ooh! another question. We live in wake county, we're getting married in franklin county. Where should we get our marriage license?

Are you having a religious ceremony? We got married in a different county than we lived in, and that was a different county from our officiant. We chose to get our license in the same county as the pastor, since he would be the one to have to turn it back in after the wedding.

My friend got ordained so he could officiate. He lives in wake county.

Then I'd do Wake County, so it'll be convenient for him to turn it in. Your license doesn't have to come from the county you are physically married in.

I love the first ones, but the accent would have to be a little more champagne colored or a metallic. No sandals, it's a november wedding.
