I'm using it right now and the page rendering along with everything else make this a very fast browser. 3g and wifi seem exactly the same when browsing tww. The pages come up right away.

Stopped by Best Buy this morning to see if they had any new iPhones left. They only had white ones left after pre-orders. I already have a white phone and, just like a car, dirt and scratches stick out like a sore thumb. So I left.

It just now occurred to me that I'd for sure get a jacket for my phone, and it wouldn't matter what color it was.

i'm running the last 3.0 beta (called "GM Seed"). is that version OK to jailbreak on? 99% sure it's exactly the same as the one that was publicly release but want to be sure

it takes a .ipsw file and makes some changes to it and spits out another ipsw file that you restore with. it gave no errors in making the new ipsw file so i think it's fine. restoring now

k couldn't get the mod'd ipsw to work.. so i was stuck in dfu mode at that point. tried restoring with apple firmware through itunes.. still didnt work. rebooted and am trying to restore in itunes in windows now.. it's working so far. before it'd get to the screen where there was a progress bar and the bar would never move.. now it's moving so i think it's good. i'll jailbreak after this still..

so, note to anyone using the dev software--upgrade to the public release of 3.0 first if you can. i dunno wtf happened to mine or if that was even the problem but that's the only thing i can think of

I mean I thought about it. Hell, I thought about it a lot. I just assumed that the phone needed to be activated somehow, and I don't see how swapping out sim cards takes care of that.

now, when jailbreaking.. if you upgrade to regular 3.0 and then try to jailbreak, is that not possible? do you have to go from 2.x to jailbroken 3.0 directly?

There's two different ways of doing it, and 2 different programs. quickpwn will jailbreak whatever current firmware you have on the phone. so it's update legally, then jailbreak. pwnage tool creates a custom firmware that you have to use to update. but I think that if you're already at 3.0 you can't update to 3.0 hacked cause that's not really an update. So like I said, I think you have to wait for the new quickpwn.

Of course, I'm not an expert so everything I said could be completely wrong, but that's my understanding. I had no problems at all taking my first gen from 2.2.x to 3.0 jailbroken.

anybody gotten bluetooth tethering to work on windows 7??? I can't get it going..keep getting errors about it can't find a driver..i can't find a driver online for it either. i've had a hell of a time even getting a bluetooth mouse to work so i'm not too surprised

also..there needs to be a way to edit the dictionary on this thing. replacing noe to Noe instead of now is fucking annoying

So i played with a 3gs at the att store on Friday and let me just say it again. DAMN it's fast. There wasn't that blocky rendering stuff when moving around a page like on the 3g and ipod.

-oh and i played with a pre for a while Thursday and it reminds me of the 3g. Almost same broswer and still slow compared to 3gs. Was cool though. Feels kinda cheap. Fits nicely in your hand though.

so what happens if i add a line, get an iphone 3gs for $200, then cancel the line.
$150 cancellation fee?

or sign up for sprint, get the number ported, then when they see im serious about canceling they let me get the iphone for $200, and port the number back. then can i cancel the sprint cause it's within the first few days or something (say service sucks...) without incurring a colossal fee?

any other ideas?
