In sb and its limped around and I look down at AcTd. I pump it up to $11 to see who at least has somewhat of a good hand and immediately hate myself for doing so seeing that I have horrible position. One caller utg, the crazy dude from pilgrimshoes's post.

Flop come 5s 10c 6c. Not so bad. I bet out $25 and the dude goes all in for ~$180. Didnt make sense and it smelled like flush draw or top pair not wanting the flush to come. Of course after seeing a couple of hands shown down I realize that logical thinking and this guy probably dont go hand in hand so Im stuck with having to make a judgement call. Gut said he hit a T and didnt want a flushie so I call.

He flips over KTo for top pair and I'm pretty relieved b/c I could def. see him having 2 pair/not trusting my read b/c only been at the table with him for about 15 min.

Turn card is a Queen...too close for comfort to me and I glare at the dealer...next card is the fucking Kd. Table goes wild. RELOAD!

i'll be honest with you ben, it was 65 into a 160 pot, and had he like AJ, A 10, AQ, or a set, he most likely reluctantly calls you

i mean itd be pretty hard to put you on AK, so itd be AK or nothing and its like 15% AK, 85% nothing that beats 2pr, because the guy likely has 2pr or better

and i mean it def isnt QQ, AA, 10 10, etc for you, you would have bet more than 1/3 the pot on the turn

yeah i saw it, kinda rough.


he reluctantly folded AT for a flopped two pair,

"i played this so wrong, so wrong ya ya ya ya" for like 8 minutes

i guess its a line thats not standard, but was more player dependant.

i just felt the J on the river was a great card for bluff value.

also the bet size i tried to structure more like a value bet than a scared bet, and he realized this.

meh.

i tabled my hand afterwards, and he goes on life tilt.

I changed my style of play dramatically, and I have been on a nice winning streak. Up $200 in a week. Which for me, is a lot since I only play maybe 30 min-1 hour a day.

^honestly, I sat down and looked over my stats and decided I was playing way too passively and calling too much with speculative hands.

i told myself I needed to raise A LOT MORE and play less middle of the road hands(K10s in middle position). I told myself over and over and then sat down and did it.

Since then, I am raising to open a lot more and calling less, esp. after preflop raises with hands(people would raise preflop 3xBB and I would call with speculative hands trying to catch huge and break them). First day, I was up $55.(1.5 hours) Second day I was up $48.(1 hour) This is all while playing $25NL tables. Days 3-5 were a little slower, only up 5-20 per, but only playing .5-1 hours.

Everytime I sit down, I focus on having more controlled aggression. I was a positive player before, but only slightly, since this, I have not had 1 losing session out of 8 and have won a lot more than I used to. So I am conciously(sp?) sticking to my plan.

^I also tried to get out of black hole bets(harrington) and raise more meaningful amounts.

.10-.25 blinds, raise preflop to .8, 2 callers, so 2.5 in the pot. Instead of raising $1, I now raise $2 or $3. Has a lot better effect for continuation bets and for when I really have a hand I get more money in the pot.

Also, I am looking for places to steal pots, $5 pot and the last to act bets $1, I have been coming over the top $5-$6 with suprisingly good results in taking down those middle of the road pots that make up a good session if you pull them.

I like doing this as well, but I try to be careful with it an make sure I at least have a small piece (say bottom pr) or at least a draw. Id be cautious making this move without at least some outs. gl with your new "style"

How do you sit down and only play for 30 minutes? Sometimes I'll play and go an hour and only seen the flop once. You must have much better luck than I do, or be playing pretty loose. And I'm not trying to be a dick or anything... just curious what your strategy is for a 30 minute session.

honestly, i play 3 tables and play what I can. If I am in late position with A-10, K-J or any of the other "trap" hands, and no one has opened, i throw a raise in and see what happens.
70% the rest fold
28% caller/s
2% reraise

When called, late position lets me throw out continuation bets on safe boards and I seem to take down about 75% of them. Just bet enough to be scary(a majority of the pot, or more, at these levels), that was always a big mistake of mine.
