Should I hedge my bet for the VT game? I have 100 in on the parlay for that game. If VT covers I win 2700. If VT doesn't I walk with 0. Should I bet 1250 on Kansas so I at worst still make a grand. Or hold out and hope VT covers and I walk with 2700? What would you do?

I got burned out of 650 last night by WV kicking ass so I hate to lose two good parlays in a row...

i have had second thoughts about VT since i put them down on the card. my big push for them was lots of tradition, football school, frank beamer, good front 7 if healthy, can pass rush, beat a good bc for championship, avg 35ppg in last five against 4 good teams, given up 15ppg in last five against 4 good teams and used to a higher level of competition than kansas.

the bad, bad taste from oklahoma, not a prolific offense so a shot out would be bad, best lb questionable for the game, and secondary some what questionable in 3-4 receiver sets that kansas likes....

Hedging is the stupidest fucking thing you can do if you are taking parlays.


If you plan on hedging later you'd be better off not parlaying in the first place.


Unless you can arb a bet, hedging only eats into your long run bottom line and can not help you.

Here's the thing about parlays.

A 3 teamer pays 6:1

A 4 teamer pays 10:1


If you bet $100 on a 4 team parlay you stand to win $1000.

Let's say you hit the first three games. You could bet $550 on the other team as a hedge. That way you either win $450 if the parlay hits or you win $450 if the parlay loses.



OR you could have just taken a 3 team parlay in the first place and you would have already won $600.

Hedging costs you a lot of money in the long run and the sportsbooks LOVE a hedger.

I made the mistake of hedging one time as a 19 year old kid and then I did the math and realized what a dumb fuck I was. Hedging is for people who hate money.

Arbitrage is the only exception.
