Some on the news page were saying that he shot in to the ground on the video, but I didn't see that. The news page says he comes back later to do the shooting, not on video.

This video actually captures what could go terribly wrong when people have CCP. The young guys had quit beating the guys ass, and were leaving--which was provoked first by the man with the gun. The guy then uses his gun for retaliation over his bruised pride. Luckily he never shoots anyone, but this is a good video that shows the rage and how things can escalate over something small. I'm not so sure that having a gun is a good thing here. This story has some similarities with the T Martin case, just on camera, and a bunch of witnesses.

This video may deserve it's own thread for discussion.

I don't own a gun nor do I want to but if I did I could see that being the perfect situation where it would get used out of rage. If someone started beating my ass it would be hard not to want to just pull it out and blow their kneecap off at least. I remember when I was a kid some kid thought it would be funny to hit me and the girl I liked with a 2x4. I ran my ass home furious, grabbed a hard plastic baseball bat, and ran right on back and beat the shit out of him with it. Nothing came of it and that kid never fucked with us again haha.

As a gun owner myself, I know the difference between a life and death situation and a scenario like you're describing. I'd like to think most responsible gun owners would be able to as well, but at the same time, it's no different then someone running and grabbing a knife or other weapon.

The threat of the other person having a weapon should also serve as a deterrent for the aggressor. Hence one of the reasons why concealed carry can be effective.

^But this is the case where the man with the gun was the aggressor. I'd wonder if he would be so quick to throw that first punch of he didn't have a gun on him. Nothing like starting a fight knowing if things don't go your way you can just blow away your enemy.
