Lightning struck our building at Blue Ridge Apartments and two of the buildings have all their fire alarms going off. We just had three fire engines and firefighters swarming trying to get access to the attic, which there isn't except for a locked hatch in the hallway, and eight firemen couldn't break into it.

Waiting for maintenance now. They want to look for electrical fire. After the lightning struck and our alarms went off we were getting a strange smell.

My power went out for about an hour and a half last night. It was fun, I used my hand crank radio to listen to sir mixalot, I pulled a still-cold beer out of the fridge, then I used my hand crank flashlight to read one of my structural engineering nerd magazines and learned a bit.

Then the power came back on and it was back to netflix.

I went outside because it got so dark here (Blue Ridge) that the lights in the hallway came on. And just as I went outside lightning struck across the road and the bottom fell out and I got soaked.
