scott wood is our duke-like white guy. I like how his youtube videos only have have FT and 3 pointers in them. But hell, if he can hit 80% of the open threes he gets, he will find time on the court. Shooting makes up for lack of athleticism in the college game.

I thought UNC was above recruiting guys like Wall.. and that this showed how pathetic Duke was that Coach K had to stoop to this level that's what i've learned from IC (before yesterday)

while i wont take it to that extreme i do agree that recruiting has grown into something pretty ridiculous in which the kids get WAY too much attention WAY to early in life...

the worst to me is football bc the rankings are so off... you get guys that are highly touted and receive this God treatment, then suck ass in school

but yea... Wall should go ahead and make up his mind, but since he is getting the God treatment everyday, he is gonna milk it... not really his fault, most people would... as soon as he commits, then no one will talk about him until his first game next year

I'm not sold that he's milking his decision. It's the message boards and media that perpetuates the anxiety. I can't imagine being in the position Wall would be in. You have to go to college even though you don't want to, and now you have to make a decision about whether you want to win a championship, or be the star of a university and get all the attention.

bottom line, i hope he comes to state, but all signs point to no. We can then move on.

On one hand I'd love to see Cousins and Wall come here, but on the other hand I'm concerned about the development of the other players, notably Tracy Smith. He's only got two more years here, and I think by his senior year we could potentially have a really good and experienced team. I don't mean NC or even ACC Championship good, but I think we could make the NCAA tournament and even perhaps make the Sweet 16 if the ball bounces right.

having competition could make tracy even better. right now, he's the starting by default, but if some talented freshmen decide to play for us, he'd have to step up and earn his playing time. that's the kind of team I want to have.

NC State signee Lorenzo Brown flashed his all-around game for the U.S. All-Stars in the 2009 Charm City Challenge, as Brown spent the majority of the game at the point guard position.

Because the team only featured one true point guard in Georgia Tech signee Mfon Udofia, Brown manned the position for the second unit. In 16 minutes of action, he totaled 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting, also knocking down 2-of-3 3-pointers. He added four rebounds, three assists, and two steals, helping lead the U.S. team to a 112-86 victory over the Baltimore All-Stars.

"I had a lot of fun," said Brown. "I was able to meet some other players going to the ACC, guys like Donte Hill. Overall, it was a nice experience.

"I played point guard for us. I had some nice assists playing with Richard [Howell] and some of the other big guys."

Brown stated he felt extremely comfortable at the point guard position. The 6-foot-5, 180-pounder has the ability to play the position on the next level.

"It was nice playing point guard," he said. "It takes a lot of pressure off me having to score because I like passing the ball. What I like to do is get in the lane and create easy shots for my teammates, and I was able to do that. But I still scored some points when I needed to do that too."

One of the highlights of the weekend for Brown was spending some time with fellow NC State signee Richard Howell. A 6-foot-8, 230-pound combo forward from Marietta (GA) Wheeler, Howell totaled 17 points and eight rebounds in the game.

"It was a nice experience playing with Richard," said Brown. "I was able to get used to how he plays and it will help us next year.

"Richard, he's not a normal big man. He's a combo forward because he can handle the ball and shoot... that separates him from the other power forwards out there. He was killing the guy they had guarding him... we got to do some stuff together out there like running the pick-and-roll. It was fun."

"Lorenzo is a great player," said Howell. "He can do almost anything on the basketball court. He's real smooth and is more of a passing guard who likes to make plays. He doesn't shoot the ball all the time, he's trying to make everyone else better. That's why I like playing with him because he's so unselfish."

The duo will play together again on April 18th as Brown and Howell accepted invitations to participate in the Reebok All-American Game which will be held on the campus of American University.

They are also familiar with each other from the AAU circuit and high school basketball. Both played a lot last summer with the Worldwide Renegades, and had big-time senior seasons for their respective high school teams.

Brown had a huge year. Mr. Everything for Roswell (GA) Centennial, the talented combo guard averaged 25 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. He was named Class AAAAA Player of the Year and a Parade All-American.

With his high school career behind him, Brown is looking forward to the next level.

"I'm definitely ready to get to NC State," he said. "I'm always talking to coach Harris about it. I don't talk as much to coach Lowe because he's busy a lot, but I'm always talking with coach Harris. He just checks in with me about my grades, and we've talked some about next year.

"I'm hoping I can go in and play the 1 and the 2. I can play either spot... I'll play wherever they want me to play. I kind of want the ball in my hands because that's how I like to play. I feel like I can make smart decisions, and I'll get my teammates easy shots. I think I can get in the lane and score or dish it off to somebody."
