Gott's personal life is none of our business, as long as it does not affect his ability to coach our team. With that said, it was already made public that Mark and his wife divorced a few months ago. His oldest kid plays football at Stanford, his daughter is an NC State student, his high school son is a decent hs basketball player, his middle school son is the rebel in the family w/ behavior and academic issues. This is all pretty well known, and none of it matters towards his abily to coach. Get off hits nuts and lets get back to basketball.

leslie and brown were very overrated and "sucked" relative to their hype but that doesn't change the fact that they were elite talent. They sucked because they didn't have a coach who could teach them how to play. they were both above average college players who were nowhere near nba-ready. common perception was that they were guys who could've been playing in the 2012-2013 nba season.

that cavs offense sucked under mike brown with fucking lebron because the guy is a moron

gott is the same deal on the other side of the ball. there was 0 reason for brown and leslie to be turnstile defenders and yet neither of them will make it in the league because they bring zippy to the table defensively. we're already hearing this bullshit about cat barber being a good defender. i guarantee we will still suck defensively next year with cat and anya playing big minutes despite both of them being prototypes for fantastic defenders physically (once anya drops 40 lbs)

Gottfried has until at least next year to get his shit together. Next year we won't have a bunch of inexperience excuses or CJ Leslie to blame. Really wish we could learn to play defense. As much as I hate watching UVA, Bennet has done a hell of a job turning that program around and it is all based on defense.

Obviously the worst loss of the Gottfried era but it's not happening with regularity (yet)

I think it sucks worse because we're all familiar with NC Central BUT honestly this team isn't completely shit. Cinci only beat them by 13 at home and Cinci was only up 5 with 7 minutes to go. Why should we have expected to blow them out?

With the new rules and all the damn FTs, I think we'll see a lot more of these kind of games everywhere. Maybe Gottfried should focus on recruiting some ace FT shooters.

Gottfried is done. Our defense was horrible with 5 upperclassmen who were all borderline nba players.

He just does not give a fuck about defense. We have practically the worst FT defense in the nation again that is just inexcusable.

On top of all that we have a defensive stalwart on the bench that hes refused to play for two years running.

We are going to have a losing record this year. At this point he has squandered way too much talent to think he has a chance to turn things around. Last year was an abomination.

the loss sucks, but we're only 4 games into gott's 3rd season. he is 2 for 2 in making the tournament. we only beat Central by 5 his first season and we later made the sweet 16. we lost all of our starters to NBA, graduation or transfer. we obviously have a lot of young talent on this team.

I was thinking this last night after we lost. This season is going to be rough. Gottfried is kind of following a Chuck Amato path just in an accelerated form. Recruits well, can't coach, had a nice high, and now we are staring at a rough landing. He gets at least this year and next regardless. He has not accomplished shit with his own recruits so you have to give him at least 4 years to try.

he has the best 2-season record we've had since the early 70s, he made the tournament his first two years, we lost all of our starters from last year (which included the last of sid's recruits), we're 4 games into this season... so i really can't see how you can make that statement with a straight face.

And shit, in a few years that may not be an inaccurate comparison to make...but it's too early, both in his tenure here and in the season, to say that IMO.

We knew this would be a rough year with a young and inexperienced team. With such a young team, I think the expectation is that November and December will be bumpy...but hopefully the team will find its groove around January and February. And I'm not saying that we'll suddenly flip the switch and be a great team. But I think how this team grows and performs come January and February will be a better indicator of where we're at moving forward than anything we do in November.

Losing Purvis is somewhat on Gottfried. Gottfried, just like Chuck, inherited some talent (Chuck inherited Rivers) and won with that talent, then recruited well, but could not sustain any success. Gott is following that path just in a shorter period of time with success coming at the end of the inherited talent's time at State, just like Chuck. The comparison is vaild.

Hopefully Gott can pull a miracle out of his ass and teach this team to play some defense and we can avoid a losing season. I love how Bullet and synapse and some others jump all over people for any criticism of any team. Bullet was all about defending the football team when it was becoming clear that we were a trainwreck. Yeah being a fan means supporting your team, but also being honest about your team and recognizing that losses to fucking NC CENTRAL are cause for concern.

^^I see what you're saying, but I think it's WAY too early to say that Gott can't win with his own guys. We're 4 games into his 3rd season...and yes, last year was definitely a let down given the expectations. But we all knew coming in that this year would be up and down, likely with more downs than ups. Now, if this team shows little improvement the rest of the season, then you'll have a valid argument. But it's just way too early in the season at this point with this team.

Kentucky is one of the best teams in the country with no experience.

We have 3 McDonald's All-Americans plus several other top 100 recruits. Not exactly chopped liver he's working with. We are underachieving. Pull the good fan and defend the team all you want but NCSU should never lose to a team from the MEAC. We struggled with Campbell too.
