Here is the hand
We are 4 seated at the end of a night
I am at about $550-600, to my left about 120, to her left about 200, to my right about 45
I know, I know, I was just playing this late because i rarely play on weekdays anymore
anyways
I am in the BB, I pick up Ac2c , by far not a great hand, everyone calls the $2 around and I make it $8 to go
fold, fold guy to my right calls and says he should have reraised and that he bet he was ahead.
Flop:
8d 2h 7c
I check to give him a chance to bet at it, but he checks
ad the next card, the 8h peels off, he instantly goes all in for like $40
I go in the tank for about 20-30 sec. and figure with that poor flop texture(lets try to forget I have a huge stack vs the table) there is no way that he would have a piece of that and furthermore, because I raised PF, he thinks that I dont have anything either. So I put him on an A high or K high Buy and called. He had like Ah 9c and and As comes on the river counterfeiting me. But on tilt about the call the guy mucks his hand and I agree, because I like the guy and it was late, that since i saw just the ace that id chop it with him.
I went with my read, but afterwards he said it was a really bad call but good read. I disagree, I thought it was the right read and right call. Your thoughts? 6/1/2006 4:10:23 AM |

I know I don't post much, but I read a lot and that particular hand is something I experienced in a dealers choice game. On the round of hold em 5 handed almost the exact same hand happened.
In the case of the game it was at, it was pocket 6s and not A-high. I mean if the person thinks he has you beat preplop and exclaims it and there is an 8,8,7,2 and all you have is a 2 I would think the kind of hands a player might have here would have you dominated.
You have all the smaller pocket pairs to 9s or something. I mean also preflop you can think he has a-k, k-q, a-10 or something, but if he genuinely thought he was ahead i would have put him on a baby pocket and 2s are not worth that call. 6/1/2006 7:08:40 AM |

I raised to $7 with QQ 5 people to flop.
Flop:
9 3 3
Checked around to me. I bet $25 and B00bs puts $65 on top. I think he had 99 but he never showed. Fold.
I want a beer for that I needed that extra $35 I invested in that hand.
Other interesting hand. I limped with QQ another time. It's raised to $17 from near the button 3 people call. I go all in on top. Everyone folds to a loosey goosey guy with about $800 behind him. He calls with 9 10 hearts. Doesn't beat me.
Why would anyone call an all in with 9 10? Same guy has called giant raises from me when I had Aces with like 8 3. 6/1/2006 10:18:44 AM |

There is already 70 in the pot before your all in. How much was your all in? If it wasn't huge then he probably figured he had odds as long as you dont have an overpair and even if you do he is sitll a 20% favorite. 6/1/2006 1:50:11 PM |

KArim,
I don't go either way on that call from your standpoint stated above. I want to say it was a bad call because there was action behind you that looked like they were going to call. I had an open ended str8 flush draw and apparently 2 overs and by the way you made that call I figured you were weak, and might be drawing to higher flush. I can't call there with an all in and a call. 6/2/2006 3:24:02 AM |

Assuming he isn't just a horrible player...
Hard to tell without more of a description, but pot odds? There are certain situations where the pot odds are so good it pays to call almost no matter how bad your hand is.
Plus when you said he has $800 behind him, I take it that gives him a significant chip leader on you? He might just figured he could afford to lose it and it was worth the risk to knock you out.6/2/2006 12:53:29 PM |

i dont see anything wrong with calling a raise with a weak/marginal hand such as suited 2 gappers like 85 or 96, but it just depends on things like his stack in relation to yours...i.e. if his stack is big, you can win a huge pot and if you think he is capable of putting all his chips in with only an over pair. also gotta keep in mind not to play a big pot if you hit top pair. 6/2/2006 3:16:01 PM |

heres a hand for you fruitballs.
1/2 nl, live game.
straddle is up for 10, i restraddle to 18, its rerestraddled to 26.
folds to the sb, bb and original straddler fold, i pump it up to 150 to go with AQo. rerestraddler folds, sb calls.
flop comes A77, sb pushes instantly for 350. i call ( i have him covered by ~200), and get destroyed by T7o.
awesome.

ehhhhhh
preflop i know for a fact im "way the fuck ahead" and this guy is capable of making this exact play with A2-AQ, specifically not AK, and any pair up 88-KK. he just happened to have a really lucky holding at the time that was ultra disguised.
there are only two people who i know make a goofy assed habit of limping with AK, and she's posted on this page, and the other is her boyfriend
that im probably wayyyyyyyy too loose in general. for some reason some people there have this image of me as tight, when im quitly in like 75% of pots.
I also woudlnt mind taking down the pot right there, that was the initial plan.
im not saying its a good play, i wanted to fold, but couldnt due to who it was also.
heres another one that just was weird.
same game, now im sitting with like 350. =/
in the bb with Js3s. limps around, i dont take the option.
flop comes 3c As Qs.
sb checks, i check, utg caller checks, pretty solid guy throws out $40 (wtf) into like a $12 pot.
folds to me, so i say fuck it, and pump it up to $110, it doesnt feel like he wanted a caller, probaly something like AT or A9.
to my surprise, utg beside me who is utterly intoxicated, shoves all of his chips in and walks away. balls. solid guy goes into the tank.
at this point i have $95 to call into this decently large pot. i feel committed with enough redraw potential, to have to call.
"ok, ill gamble with you, i call" "well im the one gambling" he flips Ks8s. OH SHIT,
[inner dialogue] holy shit, i think im actually ahead here, but have like half the deck to dodge.......]
spade.
dammit.
in the end, i was 52% to win, when i thought i was way the fuck behind going in.
solid guy says he folded AJ and is completely baffled by what he just saw. ahahaha i tend to do that to people.

on stars in tourneys tonight... early in all of them.
AA busted by A2 hitting a wheel.
KJ busted by AQ after I hit my K, runner runner 4 flush to the A.
QQ busted by 55
A9 busted by 55(coin flip, but this was all 4 tourneys I played on stars)
Never got above 1.7K in any tourney... YOU START WITH 1.5K....
Switch to UB, KK loses $35 to QQ spiking on the flop.

I would like to point out I mix it up but yeah I tend to limp in with A-K...
However, I am the first one to win the 2-4 club bonus at Tommys for the 24 dollars.
Ben you would really appreciate the move.
So I raise preflop and get 2 callers. The flop: 9s 3d 3c. I checked raised about the pot and took it down. I must say that you get some interesting calls there because they think you have the 2-4.
Side note.....I have lost with 4 flopped sets this week which is most frustrating.
Thursday 1/2 game:
I had previously raised in this 8 handed game 15 dollars and no one called.
I have Pocket Aces on the button. Family pot and I put 20 on top and to my surprise it is still a family pot.
Flop come Ad 7c 2d sb goes all in ($160) it is called and then I go all in over the top maybe 60 dollars more. There is not one but 2 flush draws and it comes.......Stupid Ed. 6/3/2006 6:25:19 AM |

i want to get my brother into playing poker but he hasn't ever played much before...so i gave him my books and im trying to help him out so he doesn't start off losing his money. that being said...what site/sites would you recommend for bonus whoring/good signup bonuses. Also what are some of the sign-up bonus codes for new members. I need something that would be easy to work off like PP's bonus and not like UB's. Finally, would you recommend one site over another in terms of microlimit cash games and sngs? Thanks guys

thats just one of those hands you're destined to lose, nothing you could have done preflop would've gotten rid of the guy, and he would've flopped the set anyways, so you were just screwed. Its losing less in that situation next time that makes you a winner 6/4/2006 2:29:45 AM |
