The only way I'll limp with an AK is if it's down to 3 handed or heads up. That's just me though.

I was BB, folds around to button. Raises to 5k. Might be a steal, might not, I thought that a huge reraise with AQ and I would take it down. I go all in over the top with AQ...

6k left after that, 77 v JJ.

standard bubble play, dont let the fact that it didnt work out force you to think it wasnt a good move.

keep it up, and plays like that will build stacks you need for nicie top 3 finishes.

Another wild night at pokerroom..

This one's a three-parter. To begin the session I sit at this table and watch a guy preflop raise at least 10BB's 80% of the hands for the first two orbits I'm there. After overbetting every flop, the only hand he showed down in this period was Q10o where he flopped a straight and busted some poor guy.

UTG I get rockets..

Texas Hold'em $1-$2 NL (real money), hand #565,887,252
Table Safi, 4 Jun 2006 11:16 PM ET

Seat 1: JTstat [ AS,AH ] ($94.00 in chips)

Perfect. I limp raise for half my stack, then he calls my all in on the flop with bottom pair ace kicker.

Next hand, my BB..

And the fucker folds for the first time in my presence, in fact it was one of only a few times he failed to raise at least 10BB's during the two orbits I had been at the table. That would have been the easiest $300 ever had that second pair of rockets come the hand before, how dissappointing.

Oh well, he busts that last $200 like 5 hands later before I get anything else to play with. That was fun.

Not really a made hand but definitely stronger than a pair. Knowing the odds of that tricky hand now I definitly may have made the same play you made in a heads up pot but not 3 people to act behind me. Except I hate to generally risk a lot of money on an unsure thing. I had enough information to say it was at least even money, although I was technically losing off the flop. I make that same play of pot betting when I have a set in the button a lot of occasions and I did on two occasions last night. Making that play against me when that is the case I'm definitly not laying it down.

Was a really good play you made though when you consider there was folding equity. You where probably getting 3 to 1 when you consider that.

I didn't know whether to be proud of myself here or not since I never found out his hand, but I think folding here was correct, as I finished in 3rd (would've been chip leader heads up if not for a bad beat). I realize this is only a 5 dollar SNG, but this is all I can afford to play at this point. I put him on AQ, which was probably giving him too much credit.

he probably had you beat on the turn so you made the correct move to fold. I don't really like the 300 into 650pot on the flop. and your 450 into the 1050 looks like you might be scared of the A so he could have just been making a play on you (which i doubt because its only a $5).

I don't think I've ever quite tarded it up like that. You're probably thinking this is not very significant, you've seen lots of players do crazy plays like this online. It's just that I have grinded out a living playing poker for 2 years now playing tight as a 12 year old, and in my ~200k hands in poker tracker you will never see another instance of maniacal play like this. It just speaks to the insane level of tilt I was experiencing at this particular moment, when I made the all-in bet I immediately started looking around the room for something throw for when he calls.

I should have immediately cut myself off after this hand, but I played a couple more orbits. Not only did my mega-tilt hand miraculously work out, it set him up for this next real hand:

Game # 350953642 - Texas Hold'em No Limit EUR 1/2 - Table "Porto"

Players(max 8):
floppy2 (EUR 529.25 in seat 1)
+hocer+ (EUR 323.39 in seat 2)

adapalenum (EUR 197.30 in seat 5)
slipnuts (EUR 269.35 in seat 6)
density156 (EUR 207.90 in seat 7)

+hocer+ Fold
-Ibrah- Call (5.00)

Flop Qs - 2s - Ts

-Ibrah- Check
slipnuts Bet (10.00)
-Ibrah- Call (10.00)

Turn Qs - 2s - Ts - As

-Ibrah- Check
slipnuts Check

River Qs - 2s - Ts - As - 9h

-Ibrah- Bet (35.00)
slipnuts Raise (85.00)
-Ibrah- All-In (48.00)
slipnuts Payback (2.00)

slipnuts shows: Ks - Kd (a flush, ace high)
-Ibrah- shows: Js - Jd (a flush, ace and queen high)

slipnuts wins: EUR 198.00 (with a flush, ace high)
Rake: EUR 1.25

Not to say that it wouldn't have worked out that way without the previous hand, but it couldn't have hurt. All's well that ends well, though I'm still down almost E100 for the afternoon. It would have been A LOT worse if he hadnt folded to my Kc3c.

Varies by site, but yeah usually. Most of the time you have to use both cards in your hand so if the board is AAAA2 someone doesn't win the bad beat jackpot. Sometimes the pot has to be minimum size as well for certain jackpots. Do you have a ss of it Ben?

actually its the proper play.

if he does have the ace then they all win the jackpot and any additional bets don't really matter.

he could also be holding any other hand and just capping because he's a stupid european and expects to split the pot.

its definitely a +EV play.

[Edited on June 11, 2006 at 5:09 PM. Reason : i suppose if the other guy didn't hold AK it wouldn't have qualified?]

well if it was AJ, then he doesn't use both hole cards for the hand, some sites don't let that qualify
