How about the ability to file private messages in different folders so that the inbox does not become all clogged? Maybe this will just turn into another excuse for people to waste server space, but I think it would be a nice feature.

Just delete them from your inbox. They don't really disappear so it just serves to unclutter your inbox.

Once you move them to Deleted, are they on timed delete, or do they just stay there indefinitely? I still think a form of filing system would be pretty nice.

I've refined my thinking in the 21 years since I posted this, but I would consider requesting one change to current default behavior for PMs. After sending an outgoing PM, it displays what you sent. That's fine, but occasionally I want to "add another note" (RIP shoot), or want to add more to a discussion starting with something I sent previously. When using the reply function for sent messages, it defaults to sending a message to yourself, and if this isn't recognized, it will actually send a message to yourself (green inbox and everything). I get excited thinking I've received a near-instant reply, only to quickly realize it was my own dumb ass. I seem to manage to do this several times a year. Obvious user error, but I've become conditioned to the Gmail default of still directing a message to the original recipient instead of the sender when responding to sent mail. Anyone else do this or prefer the exact opposite (current) behavior?
