i agree, jj seems only to be apologetic when his transgressions are brought to light. i am forced to quote a pm he sent me:

i have yet to see you complain about bartleby's method of moderation in the entertainment section, and i did not ask to be moderator of the garage because i thought it gave me "authority," it is because jake and joe thought it would work. "

he seems to support his actions with the "but that's what he's doing" defense. how is this acceptable?

threads should be locked/deleted if they are not pertinent to the forum in which they are posted, but i have noticed him deleting posts for personal reasons. the job of a moderator is not to win arguments by deleting posts which dispute his position, it is to see that each forum is helpful, and in the case of the garage, stays on topic with automotive discussion. jj has violated both of these duties with his thread attacking scrumps and deleting posts by users having a differing opinion of scrumps

if i were moderator of the garage, i would have deleted any and all bullshit with the quickness, and i wouldn't have argued with anyone about it....just zap, gone. prob about the same or slightly less level of strictness as jj, normally, but 100x quicker on the trigger if people were intentionally being asses/testing the limits.

back to the subject. if you notice most of the people complaining are Lounge or Chit Chat people who come in to the Garage with stupid ass remarks. The Garage, Tech Talk, and somewhat the Soap Box are supposed to be places for more serious conversations. Even if someone comes in with a serious question it is welcome for serious remarks. However lately there have been some serious questions asked in typical Chit Chat fashion which should not be answered

all in all. JJ is a good moderator but he is only human

yeah, all this summer for summer school, and just so happened the guy that was suppose to come back dropped out i think, so i can stay Fall/Spring. Worked out pretty well...

Hmmm...I have had a couple pissing matches with jj myself, and yes he has called me and imbicle and such before. It didnt really bother me. jj and I often have conflicting views on several automotive subjects, but it usually is rooted in arguing about cars and little else. I dont think it ever has gotten personal. If he calls me imbicle or something else along those lines, I dont really take it seriously, I just say something back, kinda laugh about it, and continue to argue with him about how imports suck

Therefore, I never have and probably never will have a problem with jsquared, or his being the garage mod.
