I know this has been asked before (how could it not) but how hard would it be to add a "quote" button to the posts, so if you want to quote someone, you just click the button by their post, and a new reply box comes up, with the text pre-marked for being quoted... Most other forums have this, and it is a very basic feature...

but, I have no clue how versatile the SW for these forums are, so it could be horribly complicated to implement, in which case the entire forum should be overhauled with something better (php boards seem to be very popular, and it would be fairly simple to write a script to convert the current accounts and topics)...

You know, you're right about two things... first, you don't have a clue about anything this software is about. It was designed by the two site owners from the ground up, and it's more of a showcase of their abilities than something they're running just for shits and giggles. I'm pretty sure they make a good bit selling the code packages to people who want message boards and more just for shits and giggles. No way it would be taken down for a stock php or any other language board when this software is very stable, flexible, and user friendly (the users may not be friendly though).

Second, you're right... you are a moron.

I'm with the n00b guy, that would be a really nice button to have. If we had it, people wouldn't feel the need to use a dozen carets to reference a post halfway up a page from theirs. It would make quoting someone a whole lot easier, and it would be nice if it automatically put in who said the original quote so I wouldnt have to go searching through the thread to figure it out.

You people obviously can't read. I know of the quote button, and quoting tags ON THE REPLY SCREEN. I meant a button on the regular topic screen (where you read people's posts), that you can click, and it automatically brings you to the reply screen, with the persons stuff already quoted, and ready to go. Yes, I know you can cut and paste, but that is an unnecessary hassle, when it is a small matter for the computer to automatically do it. Is that so hard to understand?
