On the main Photo Galleries page, there should be a link that will take us straight to our personal photo gallery for viewing purposes.

I'm not adding another unnecessary bookmark, especially when I actually gave this site money to support it.

Also, take out that stupid fucking software that converts all the graphics we upload to JPEGs!

Frosh that's the only way they'll display. JPEG is really the only choice. We've been through this before. As far as a link to your own photo gallery.....if you're going to your own gallery that much maybe a psychiatrist is what you need.

That's not the only way they'll display! I've posted plenty of outside links to GIFs and PNGs before!

Anyway, I kinda have to go to my own folder to get the URLs of my own pictures when I post them...

JPEG is lossy and makes my high-quality pics look like shit. It also ruins the transparency in my GIFs and PNGs, and also means I can't upload animated GIFs.

i dont really have that big of a problem with the water mark, i'm just afraid that the companies that the pictures come from will have a problem

for example, i have a picture that i scanned from the N&O in my photo gallery. It is a copwrited picture, and belongs to the News and Observer, not thewolfweb.com. this is the same for many of the porn pictures that have recently populated the lounge as of late.

I understand what you guys are doing, and that having the watermark will help to publicize tww around the internet as people post wolfweb pictures in other areas/message boards (as this is how i found out about nationally popular sites like collegehumor.com and consumptionjunction.com) however, i think you are just going to run into legal problems if you just do a blanket, and watermark all the pictures, because users on this message board post copywrited pictures along with personal pictures. You may want to confer with some legal advise (like someones dad...no need to spend money to answer a simple question) just to make sure that what you are doing wont get you into trouble

I think technically if it's a copyrighted picture, you're not supposed to copy it to have it published elsewhere (and displaying it on another website does count as publishing).

I have to go against the other guys, as was pointed out to me, it WAS in the terms of service when everyone signed up that ANY content put on this site becomes property of thewolfweb.

I agree with Frosh about the GIF and PNG situation. GIF's I've uploaded have been screwed up royally in the JPEG conversion process. PNG's are much more efficient than JPEG's in terms of quality and compression and should be supported.

PNGs are fucking awesome. if browser acceptance of them would have been better at the time the photo gallery was developed, I would have used them. I still kinda regret it!

Never use PNG for snapshots and shit. JPEG does a much better job of compressing the file, and you won't even miss what image information you lose.

THERE IS NO REASON YOU CAN'T CHANGE THE WAY THE PHOTO GALLERY WORKS, THOUGH!

well, then if it belongs to the N&O, you scanning it and posting it is copyright infringement by itself. that's called unauthorized reproduction.

then don't post them up on here...

they're providing a service at little to no cost, so where is the room to complain...
