"Hagel: US 'Losing' Iraq War

Thursday, June 23

In demoralizing comments that have drawn surprisingly little fire from his fellow Republicans, Sen. Chuck Hagel is claiming that the U.S. is actually losing the war in Iraq.

"The reality is that we're losing in Iraq," Hagel told U.S. News and World Report earlier this week. "Things aren't getting better; they're getting worse."

The Nebraska Republican blamed the Bush administration, saying a more positive assessment by Vice President Dick Cheney earlier in the month showed that "the White House is completely disconnected from reality. It's like they're just making it up as they go along." "

Is the CIA Behind the Iraqi "Insurgents"--and Global Terrorism?
http://globalresearch.ca/articles/MOR505A.html

Quote :
"Back in 2002, following the trauma of 9-11, Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld predicted there would be more terrorist attacks against the American people and civilization at large. How could he be so sure of that? Perhaps because these attacks would be instigated on the order of the Honorable Mr. Rumsfeld. According to Los Angeles Times military analyst William Arkin, writing Oct. 27, 2002, Rumsfeld set out to create a secret army, "a super-Intelligence Support Activity" network that would "bring together CIA and military covert action, information warfare, intelligence, and cover and deception," to stir the pot of spiraling global violence.

According to a classified document prepared for Rumsfeld by his Defense Science Board, the new organization--the "Proactive, Preemptive Operations Group (P2OG)"--would actually carry out secret missions designed to provoke terrorist groups into committing violent acts. The P2OG, a 100-member, so-called "counter-terrorist" organization with a $100-million-a-year budget, would ostensibly target "terrorist leaders," but according to P2OG documents procured by Arkin, would in fact carry out missions designed to "stimulate reactions" among "terrorist groups"--which, according to the Defense Secretary's logic, would subsequently expose them to "counter-attack" by the good guys. In other words, the plan is to execute secret military operations (assassinations, sabotage, "deception") which would intentionally result in terrorist attacks on innocent people, including Americans--essentially, to "combat terrorism" by causing it!"

^^ Its another one of those articles that makes a wild and nonsensical claim with no factual evidence to support it. Then it points out a lot of actual historic events and ties them together with speculation in the hopes that it will create a some sort of legitimacy. Its on par with a poorly written 8th grade essay.

Fighting the so-called, phony and staged 'War On Terror' takes a back seat to Bush's #1 Objective: Controlling the center of the world's major energy resources and supplies: Iraq - with the world's 2nd largest known oil reserves!

In his June 28 speech, President Bush asserted that the invasion of Iraq was undertaken as part of "a global war against terror" that the United States is waging. In reality, as anticipated, the INVASION INCREASED THE THREAT OF TERROR, perhaps significantly.

Half-truths, MISinformation and HIDDEN AGENDAS have characterised official pronouncements about U.S. war motives in Iraq from the very beginning. The recent revelations about the rush to war in Iraq stand out all the more starkly amid the chaos that ravages the country and threatens the region and indeed the world.

In 2002, the U.S. and United Kingdom proclaimed the right to invade Iraq because it was developing weapons of mass destruction. That was the "single question," as stressed constantly by Bush, Prime Minister Blair and associates. It was also THE SOLE BASIS on which Bush received congressional authorisation to resort to force. The answer to the "single question" was given shortly after the invasion, and reluctantly conceded: The WMD didn't exist. Scarcely missing a beat, the government and media doctrinal system concocted NEW pretexts and JUSTIFICATIONS FOR GOING TO WAR. "

Pentagon Blocks Release of Abu Ghraib Images
http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/july2005/260705pentagonblocks.htm

Quote :
"So what is shown on the 87 photographs and four videos from Abu Ghraib prison that the Pentagon, in an eleventh hour move, blocked from release this weekend? One clue: Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld told Congress last year, after viewing a large cache of unreleased images: "I mean, I looked at them last night, and they're hard to believe.” They show acts "that can only be described as blatantly sadistic, cruel and inhumane," he added.

A Republican Senator suggested the same day they contained scenes of “rape and murder.” No wonder Rumsfeld commented then, "If these are released to the public, obviously it's going to make matters worse."

...

In the same period, reporter Seymour Hersh, who helped uncover the scandal, said in a speech before an ACLU convention: “Some of the worse that happened that you don't know about, ok? Videos, there are women there. Some of you may have read they were passing letters, communications out to their men….The women were passing messages saying ‘Please come and kill me, because of what's happened.’

“Basically what happened is that those women who were arrested with young boys/children in cases that have been recorded. The boys were sodomized with the cameras rolling. The worst about all of them is the soundtrack of the boys shrieking that your government has. They are in total terror it's going to come out.""

"WHAT ELSE DID THE BASTARDS LIE ABOUT?

The evidence for the US Government having deliberately lied to the people of this nation to trick them into supporting a war of conquest is now overwhelming. The Downing Street Memos, the "Dodgy Dossier", the forged Nigerian "Yellow Cake" papers, Colin Powell's fraudulent presentation to the UN, .etc .etc .etc all establish a clear pattern of intentional deception.

The government lied to us all. The mainstream media helped them do it. So did Israel. Yes, all those necessary hundreds of people needed to promote the lie did all conspire to do exactly that. That is a fact, and it is time to accept it.

That lie, profitable for a few, has cost the rest of us a great deal. Families have lost loved ones. The government says about 1800. But we dare not trust that claim because we now know the government lies. There are indications that the government has been "fudging the books" by not counting as killed in action soldiers who die in or on their way to the hospitals. During a recent MSNBC interview of the officer in charge of processing the personal items of dead soldiers, he let slip that his unit alone had processed 3500 such sets of personal items. Other reports from Germany suggest that the US has lost close to 10,000 young men and women in Iraq.

Then there are the wounded. Officially numbered as around 10,000, but like the KIA figures, most likely a lie. These are young men and women whose lives will forever be changed by the crippling injuries they have suffered. Even those men and women who come home without any visible signs of injury are carrying with them depleted uranium contamination, which will give rise to increased cancers and leukemia, and an epidemic of birth defects in children not yet born. These young men and women also carry with them the memory of deeds done in support of a war they know was morally and legally wrong.

All of us, along with the moral burden of an illegal war of conquest, carry the financial burden, already over $1000 for each and every American, including babies. That $1000 is borrowed money, so you are also paying the interest on that loan, plus Congress continues to pour more money into Iraq and Afghanistan, and gets ready to follow the President (and Israel) into yet another war in yet another Mideast country."

Here's a breakdown of all coalition casuallties. It includes troops who died in transit to, or at hospitals. If it were missing huge numbers of American troops I would expect there to be some sort of huge outcry from the friends and family of the fallen.

Zionist NeoCon Media 'Attack Dogs' Savage Cindy Sheehan
http://judicial-inc.biz/c_sheehan_trashed_by_liberals.htm

Quote :
""Bill O’Reilly, a 'non-veteran', and Michelle Malkin, chimed in to say that Sheehan’s “story hasn’t checked out”. O’Reilly said Sheehan “is in bed with the radical left”, and, later suggested that “this kind of behavior borders on treasonous.”

O'Reilly feels that Sheehan, by linking her with “people who hate this government, hates her country.”

Milken let us know ~ "Her son would be ashamed of his mother's comments"

Rush Limbaugh said Sheehan was “trying to pull a little bit of a swindle” and that “she had been totally co-opted by the whole Michael Moore leftist mentality.”

...Fred Barnes piled on, saying of Sheehan: “She’s a crackpot”."

You hear that people? She's a "crackpot" and a "traitor" who "hates America." Probably another "conspiracy theorist whacko." That's right. Nothing to see here. Everything's fine with the war in Iraq. They didn't lie about the WMDs. Downing Street Memo?! What the hell is that? Oh, so they say that they were planning to go to war in Iraq and just fabricated the WMD threat? That's just more "conspiracy theorist" whacko crap. If you even talk about that, you're not only a "crackpot", you're "anti-American." If you expose government lies, then you hate our American government...and if you "hate the government", you "hate America." This Cindy Sheehan is a borderline traitor. She is with al-Queda and should be put in a camp or thrown in Guantanamo Bay.

No one said that. I'm quite simply amazed by your lack of understanding regarding the proper use of quotation marks.

Statements like that are an example of misrepresentation. Misrepresentation is a dirty trick used to discredit others, I have been told.

Simply finding that a political commentator expressed a distaste for Cindy Sheehan doesn't mean anything. Bill O'Reilly is expressing his opinion. As such a self-proclaimed freedom loving patriot, I would have assumed that you would want O'Reilly to use his freedom of speech as he saw fit.

You say things like this presupposing the existance of an underground Zionist NeoCon movement that controls all media. Please prove this single claim before you begin piling more and more wild theories on top of it.

The marines don't suspect Mossad, the author of that web page does.

Of course, for you I suppose that it has nothing to do with the sophisticated explosives that have been smuggled across the Iranian border. No, that would make entirely too much sense and wouldn't allow you to wave your finger at the jews.

You have yet to provide any evidence that would lead anyone to believe you over the mainstream media. You have yet to prove that the media is run by some secretive jewish conspiracy that exists around the world, although that doesn't stop you from repeating the claim whenever legitimate facts threaten your theories. As of right now, the mainstream media has a hell of a lot more credibility than you do.

You have provided a web page in which one man makes completely unsubstantiated claims regarding an unseen and unproven jewish conspiracy. Its beyond obvious that his examination of facts is horribly biased and is anything but an objective consideration of the facts. Yet no matter how silly the webpage is (this one has some great background music, I might add) or how silly its claims are, you report them as if they are the gospel truth. The claims that you post here will not stand up to a logical and rational examination.

Sadly, your devotion to this theory has completely blinded you to how absurd the entire notion is. Its just one unproven and unsubstantiated theory stacked atop one another.

The reason we should not be backing Israel in the Middle East is widely overlooked due to the current feelings about Arabs today in this country. I do not have any evidence to support the conspiracy that this mentality was indeed fashioned on 911 by oil tycoons in cahoots with Saudis who have similar goals, and possibly Israel. But what I do want to enforce is the idea that Israeli religion is the underlying vice used in war inciting and manipulation of US action in the Middle East.

To start off, this is not hate propaganda. I only intend to shed light on the history of Jewish Zionism and bring together a clear picture of why its founding principals are a symbol of human depravity. My reason in attempting this is soley to persuade Americans that our country should not be backing Israel in their disputes in the Middle East. The Gaza pullout is only a diversion, I believe, to incite more retaliation on part of Israel. Your response to this is your own, but do not charge me as anti-Semitic as I hate nobody and wish you would do the same.

To do this I will try to show how even the old testament which is sacred to the Jews is morally corrupt. I implore you to pick up your bibles and turn to the book of Esther in the old testament.Read thoroughly this story of the exiled Jews Mordecai and Esther. Do not overlook the parts where "god" comes into play. This is the key to understanding Zionist doctrine. Read all the way through till after the assimilation of Babylonia by the Jews and note what was done when they got into power.

When you are done, I want you to ask yourself does this story represent moral righteousness condoned by none other than god. OR, does it further enforce the idea that Zionist ideology uses god as a smokescreen to empower themselves above others and commit acts of violence that are forgivable by god. It is my belief that this simple fact has been responsible, if not directly responsible, for the majority of all wars in the last 2 millennia. I'm not saying they were the first but I am saying they are the best at it, and that is why our nation is suffering right now. Not to mention an emotionless, unethical administration.

Other things to note:
Before the subjugation of the Jews by the Babylonians and the Assyrians the kingdom of Israel was split due to inner tribal conflicts (Israel and Judah) and in this disorder the neighboring kingdoms were able to overcome them.
Quote :
"For over 1,700 years, the Jews have been bewailing their sad fate in that they have been exiled from their homeland, as they call Palestine. But gentlemen, did the world give it to them in fee simple, they would at once find some reason for not returning. Why? Because they are vampires, and vampires do not live on vampires. They cannot live only among themselves. They must subsist on Christians and other people not of their race."
Although harsh in his words this quote from none other than salisburyboy has merit if taken in context from a historical view.

Irony is all too common in history so that’s why I’m going to mention both the Holocaust and the take over of Babylonia by the Jews in the same sentence. Crystal Night anyone? If you think I’m anti-Semitic after what you have just read you are still mistaken. This is to show that history does repeat self. We must learn from it to ever overcome our mistakes.

Chow

Hate proganda refers to hating someone because of their race and beliefs. You think i am attacking but all i'm really trying to do is substanciate the reason we should not back up Israel. I dont care what people think when I take jabs at religion. Religion take that little prominence in my mind to try to be that indiscriminent. You want proof as to why the sky is blue when you can just look up and see that it is. My claim that the majority of war in the past 2 millennia is an acusation that i believe is true. You must take in account the domino effect that this religions and the opposing sprouting religions have had in the wars of history. You will see that this is real and not bullshit.

"Republican senator likens Iraq war to Vietnam

Reuters/Sue Pleming | August 22 2005

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - An influential Republican senator said on Sunday the longer the United States stayed bogged down in Iraq, the more the conflict looked like another Vietnam War.

"What I think the White House does not yet understand and some of my colleagues, is the dam has broken on this (Iraq) policy," said Nebraska Sen. Chuck Hagel, a senior member of the Foreign Relations Committee and possible presidential candidate in 2008.

A decorated Vietnam War veteran, Hagel also said the war in Iraq had further destabilized the Middle East and the White House needed to find an exit strategy for Iraq.

Hagel's comments on ABC's "This Week," coincide with President George W. Bush's new offensive to counter growing public discontent over U.S. involvement in Iraq and calls for a pull-out date.

The White House rejected Hagel's remarks and said it was essential the United States complete its mission in Iraq."

Former Air Force Capt. on dangerous vaccines, depleted uranium, & "Gulf War Syndrome"
http://prisonplanet.com/Pages/Aug05/240805DU.htm

Quote :
"Former Air Force Capt.Turned Activist Says Pentagon's Actions Towards Depleted Uranium Use 'Beyond Treason'

Greg Szymanski | August 24 2005

...she said after researching and reading a declassified Senate Report numbered 103.97 from the Veterans affairs Committee, it was the straw that broke the camel’s back, forcing her to mount an even more aggressive public attack against the military, an attack that is still going on today.

“It changed my life,” said Riley, referring to the Senate report. “I had to go public and I have never stopped since the report was beyond belief and appalling. It said, now get this, that during the past 50 years, hundreds of thousands of military personnel have been medically and scientifically experimented upon without their fundamental knowledge or consent. Can you believe that! It’s simply disgusting and unacceptable.

“And when I finally realized the higher-ups in the military could care less if the troops lived or died, my loyalty to the military and all it stood for was completely over. I was now on a campaign and mission to get at the truth and help as many people end their suffering caused by a lack of caring, concern and cooperation by the Pentagon."

...

With her activism spilling over to the recent Iraqi invasion, she recently has taken up the cause of stopping the illegal use of depleted uranium in the battle field and pointing out its debilitating effects on troops and civilians exposed to high levels of radiation.

...“I thought to myself if I had one shot to tell the world something, this depleted uranium story was it. We wanted to let the world know what was really going on and how the Pentagon really doesn’t care if the troops live or die.

“These kids are coming back from Iraq sick and dying and the military won’t accept responsibility. I wanted everybody to know since the Pentagon has not acknowledged the illness, the VA hospitals cannot treat any of the soldiers for what amounts to something they say doesn’t exist.

...

“The VA has determined that 250,000 troops are now permanently disabled, 15,000 troops are dead and over 425,000 are ill and slowly dying from what the Department of Defense still calls a mystery disease. How many more will have to die before action is taken?”"

Mr. Joshua, here is PROOF:

Quote :
"Israel Seizes Palestinian Land
Hisham Abu Taha, Arab News

JERUSALEM, 25 August 2005 — Israel has issued orders to seize Palestinian land to build its wall along a route that would effectively annex the West Bank’s largest Jewish settlement to Jerusalem, the Justice Ministry said yesterday, a day after Israel completed its evacuation of 25 settlements in Gaza and the West Bank.

Palestinians charged that Israel issued the confiscation orders while world attention was riveted on the forcible removal of settlers and tearing down of their homes by Israeli bulldozers.

Besides objecting to loss of land, Palestinians said that the wall would cut them off from the part of Jerusalem they claim for a state and reinforce Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s intention to solidify Israel’s grip on its main West Bank settlement blocs after the Gaza pullout. The settlement, Maaleh Adumim, 5 kilometers (3 miles) east of Jerusalem in the Judean desert, has about 30,000 residents. Sharon has said repeatedly that it will remain in Israel even after a final peace accord with the Palestinians.

Israel says the wall is needed to keep bombers from entering the country. When complete, the 680-kilometer (425-mile) complex of walls, electric fences, trenches and barbed wire is expected to include about eight percent of the West Bank on the “Israeli” side.

Amos Gil, executive director of Ir Amim, an Israeli settlement monitoring group, said the Maaleh Adumim barrier confiscation would seize about 60 square kilometers (23 square miles) of land.

Attorney General Meni Mazuz approved the order after a legal review, the Justice Ministry said. “Such decisions will only serve to undermine any efforts to resume negotiations,” said a senior Palestinian official, Saeb Erekat.

The United States issued a statement that implied criticism of the Israeli move. The wall “is a problem to the extent that prejudges a final borders, confiscates Palestinian property or imposes further hardship on the Palestinian people,” the statement said. "

With every poll showing smaller and smaller minorities approving of Bush and his war in Iraq, with top US generals sending signals that they want to reduce US troops in Iraq, and with the world at large viewing Bush as a fanatic who cannot acknowledge his blunders and mistakes, Bush announced in his weekly radio address that "our efforts in Iraq and the broader Middle East will require more time, more sacrifice and continued resolve."

Does Bush think he is a dictator?

The polls show that it is the American people's resolve that Bush bring his Iraq venture to an end, an orderly end if possible, but to an end. Every explanation Bush has given for his invasion of Iraq has proved to be false. Yet, Bush still speaks of "our noble cause," while taking great care to avoid Cindy Sheehan and her question, "What is the noble cause?""

I thought the Bush Administration said that one of the reasons we started this war in Iraq was to remove Saddam becaue he was such an "bad, evil guy" who "tortured his own people", etc.

But it's ok for us to torture people?

"New Accounts of Torture by U.S. Troops

23 Sep 2005 22:05:31 GMT
Source: Human Rights Watch

(New York, September 25, 2005) -- U.S. Army troops subjected Iraqi detainees to severe beatings and other torture at a base in central Iraq from 2003 through 2004, often under orders or with the approval of superior officers, according to accounts from soldiers released by Human Rights Watch today. The new report, "Leadership Failure: Firsthand Accounts of Torture of Iraqi Detainees by the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division," provides soldiers' accounts of abuses against detainees committed by troops of the 82nd Airborne stationed at Forward Operating Base Mercury (FOB Mercury), near Fallujah.

Three U.S. army personnel-two sergeants and a captain-describe routine, severe beatings of prisoners and other cruel and inhumane treatment. In one incident, a soldier is alleged to have broken a detainee's leg with a baseball bat. Detainees were also forced to hold five-gallon jugs of water with their arms outstretched and perform other acts until they passed out. Soldiers also applied chemical substances to detainees' skin and eyes, and subjected detainees to forced stress positions, sleep deprivation, and extremes of hot and cold. Detainees were also stacked into human pyramids and denied food and water. The soldiers also described abuses they witnessed or participated in at another base in Iraq and during earlier deployments in Afghanistan.

According to the soldiers' accounts, U.S. personnel abused detainees as part of the military interrogation process or merely to "relieve stress." In numerous cases, they said that abuse was specifically ordered by Military Intelligence personnel before interrogations, and that superior officers within and outside of Military Intelligence knew about the widespread abuse. The accounts show that abuses resulted from civilian and military failures of leadership and confusion about interrogation standards and the application of the Geneva Conventions. They contradict claims by the Bush administration that detainee abuses by U.S. forces abroad have been infrequent, exceptional and unrelated to policy."

Obviously. I hope your not trying to justify this war based on the actions of a few during 911. Are you?

no im just saying the fact that we are at WAR should give you an idea that theres some violence and killing and inhumane shit going on...war is obviously not nice, i just dont think its a big surprise that there are torture interrogations and stuff...and i hope you are not categorizing the entire american campaign as being cruel torturers "based on the actions of a few"

The recorded torture incidents are definitely not the last incidents to happen on such a chaotic battlefield as Iraq. I'm glad you realize that. Me personally, I catagorize this administration's war campaign as the reckless, un-thought out, blunder that it is.
