Kate and Leopold was good for a Meg Ryan movie. Though maybe I just liked it because of Hugh Jackman.

There's something about Dirty Dancing that just makes it the ultimate chick flick to me. I can't think of one that I like more.

men don't catch on subtle hints very well

get a friend of yours to come out and point blank ask him if he's doing something special...and highly recommend he does do something if he's not already planning on it

this keeps you from sounding stupid, high maintenance, or needy...and gets you what you want

but honestly, if he's not planning on something special himself...and then tries to do something special b/c you want him to, it's not going to feel very special or romantic

i always like to 'prepare' my man...i start talking about whatever the occassion is about 3-4 wks prior when i want more than a last-minute "oh I dunno, what do YOU want to do".

that way he can prepare his own thing or, if he has no clue, ask a buddy (or me)...either way, if i start preparing him early enough, then he feels like he thought of the whole thing and everything works out perfectly.


...but then again, i don't think of things like valentine's and anniversary's as a "guy's job to make it special" thing...we work together on it and i always through out the information as to whether or not i'm getting him something (big hints here b/c if you're getting him something, he'll need to get you a gift).

guys always need a little help, and in the end it may not be as "Knight/White Horse" as you might wish, but at least you haven't given him the chance to completely flop. Set 'em up for success...let him know what you're thinking!

In the end, my advice is to just tell him that you'd like for Vday to be a romantic, just the two of you sort of night. he'll figure out that he's gotta get on the ball!

subtle hints never work.. I tried that once year, and then he didnt get them, so I had to practically come out and tell him, and then it wasnt as special as it could've been.

All I did was pick the place that I wanted to go for my birthday to eat, and asked for demanded a carvel ice cream cake I told him to plan the rest.

I even decided to come up to raleigh for my birthday so that he could have more options of things to do since we've done EVERYTHING there is to do in wilmington umteen times
