Layer Cake

New movie coming out in a few weeks directed by Matthew Vaughn, the guy who produced Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. As far as I can tell, it's about drugs, money, and poon tang. Looks pretty bitchin'. Thoughts?

i saw this last weekend and enjoyed it. tried to go last month at tribeca film festival, but it sold out too fast. ending was lame, but overall good movie. i don't understand why so many online trailers show the girl all laced up so often. she's such a small part of the film.

i was cool with the ending.

if for nothing else than the fact that it precludes a sequel from ever being made to ruin the original.

I loved Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
And I loved Snatch

But they were the same plot with some minor changes and different characters. This isn't the same movie for a third time, is it?

Yeah, it's strange. I wish there was more information, but the best I can tell is he basically just freaked out.

Not Daniel Craig, Matthew Vaughn. He was slated to direct X3, which was sort of a surprise choice, but the other day he bailed with production scheduled to begin next month.

Quoth Vaughn, "My bad!"

I just watched it. A fun movie. Very exciting - it keeps your attention.

Watch those details, though. Layer Cake becomes a bit confusing at times.

Also, yeah, Sienna Miller is only in the movie for like 10 minutes but she's naked for part of it so it's all good.

thank god this director isn't cashing in his talent on x3. for a novice, it was an excellent film on his part...a lot of the movement/editing effects seemed to come directly from the guy richie line, but the film came as more sincere in content than snatch and lock stock. there was moral. it wasn't just a longer version of a good music video.

i saw it at rialto tonight and i thought it was only decent at best. The movie was trying to be too sleek and smart for its britches at times.

*spoilers*

And it shoulda ended with the drug deal getting fucked - fin. Not his ass on the pavement, shot.

it's a fun movie. i recommend it to anyone who likes mob movies and clever cinematography. the guy richie influence is there, but not entirely so. this is certainly something different.

^not really. all of what they did is quite common for indy films. Nothing about the film was particularly groudbreaking -- it was just a well put together presentation of the familiar.

^nod. i do think the script was an easier follow than lock stock. it was less complicated, and i don't mean that to comment on the vernacular. it seemed more realistic, or at least as realistic as these movies can seem.

i liked the movie except for that
