I saw the first one on DVD, and I was pleasantly surprised. I figured it would blow like every other horror/slasher flick as of late, but it was actually pretty good. I feel sorry for the camera dude at the end, though.

And I don't blame the doctor for having an affair with that asian chick. She was hot as fuck.

Most of the reviews on TWW have been positive. It even got a 7.5 on IMDB which isn't bad for a horror movie.

"Co-writer Leigh Whannell had an interview with SuicideGirls recently, revealing small bits of info on some upcoming projects, where he brushed over Saw 2. When asked whether the jawtrap would makes it return to the sequel, Leigh was quoted saying: I wouldn’t say the jawtrap is back but there is something that is twice as sick and twice as fucked up as the jawtrap which I didn’t think could be achieved. The jawtrap didn't bug me that much. I thought the razor blade maze thing was worse than that. The very last scene really stuck w/ me though. ...just didn't see that coming at all.

Me and Jess have the first one on DVD... we haven't watched it yet. We just bought it to have it because we thought it was so good.

Saw was the first movie in a while that had me crouched low in the seats hands over my mouth. My skin was crawling during the reverse bear trap scene. My mind kept going, "What if I was in a situation like this...what the hell would I do?"

If I remember it correctly, it was razor wire.

Yep, this movie haunted me. That last scene my mouth was as wide open as it could get.

The part that freaked me out a lot was when the chinese dude was running down the hall to catch the killer......dag.

My roommate and I were trying to come up with traps like the sort in the movie where you inflict the pain on yourself or are the ultimate cause of your own death. When I worry about fear or maiming it's always stuff dealing with my hands, eyes, and face that make me the most nervous.

What about a room where your only escape is crawling commando-style on your belly across red hot embers under a wall to the exit...

I can't wait to see what they've thought up for the second one. Damn the plot. The concepts were what was so fucked up about it.

and then tell me if it was shot in less than a month.

Kudos to them for trying something slightly different, but the movie just didn't make much sense and had a fuckton of plot holes.

Anyone remotely interested in film? That is a feat any way you look at. Toss in that Cary has a BRITISH ACCENT BY NATURE and he did a wonderful job at acting American. You think he acted bad? If you were in that fubared situation you wouldn't act well either.

The whole "PLOTHOLESSSSSSSSSSS!" arguement is stupid. Of course there's "other ways it could've ended", but it's ENTERTAINMENT, so stop whining and be entertained.

^^and that is exactly what is wrong with the entertainment industry/society today. people dont want to think about things and ask questions, they just want to be entertained and see buildings blow up and limbs get sawed off

yeah it's not one of those movies you go to and scrutinize every detail...the acting sucked, and the plot wasn't the most throrough or smooth, but as ^^^ said, it's entertainment and if you go expecting that, you'll get it. i liked the movie and i'll definitely go see the second one

^ no, sometimes people DO want to think things through and watch a detailed movie...sometimes you just want a thriller. anyone who only watches one kind of movie (or listens to one kind of music, etc) has some issues. enjoy the movie for what it is and stop trying to compare it to what it isn't.

Real life is much scarrier than this film will ever be.

The web of razor wire was a good idea though. I'll have to remember that one.

See those cuts on his arm? He tried cutting through his arm with a pocket knife but it wasn't sharp enough.(he'd already ruined the blade chipping at the rock) After about a week, he got the idea to slam his body against the wall to break his arm(took a few tries), and then he was able hack through the muscle/cartilidge/nerves. He said in an interview that cutting the main nerve was the worst part.

After he finished all that he still had to crawl to the end of that cavern, rappel down a 100ft cliff, and walk ~10miles back to his truck in the heat of the desert.

Hardcore indeed. He's still a dumbass for not telling anyone where he was going in the first place.

luckily, the same director / writer are doing the sequel ( unlike blair witch ) so i think it will be an enjoyable follow-up ( i actually liked blair witch 2, even though it was a completely different style than the original ). there are enough interesting possibilities for them to explore from the original movie, to make it nearly as creative. the girl that passed her "test" was noticeably left as an unresolved & seemingly important character for them to bring back in the sequel.....

i enjoyed saw enough that i'm not going to be too demanding of its sequel. i just can't wait to see it, regardless.

Shot in a month != planned in a month. If it were shot AND planned in a month, that would be amazing, but I doubt that's the case. It's because of good planning they could shoot it in a month (which shouldn't be hard for any movie like that).

i agree completely...it's a horror movie, and i think it did the job of scaring people...it's rare to find a horror movie with great acting and plot with no plot holes anyways

but i have to add that the acting done by Cary was probably the worst i have ever seen in any movie
