Wow, I just have to say wow. Interesting and wow. If you wanna know what I'm wowing about read below.
So I was doing some nice night riding with Ryan (GotYoNacho) and we were having a nice calm drive out on penny road near lake wheeler south of Raleigh. We were going about 55mph and coming right out of a curve, A deer, yes a FUCKIN DEER! runs between our bikes. I was about 3 seconds behind Ryan and He didn't see it. But the deer didn't make it. I didnt see the deer until it ran right in front of me.
I hit the deer (or the deer hits me) at about 55mph head on, right on it's side. It ran from the left side and was going to the right side. The bike took most of the impact with the expection of some parts of my leg, but I'm not hurt. The odd thing was that I didn't fall. After the sudden impact, I prolly slowed down to 25mph and I was still going straight. I speed up and chased down Ryan to get him to pull over cause I just hit a deer. He was like... say what?
We, pulled over to the nearest gas station (about 1/2 mile), and we inspected my bike. Loads of plastic is ripped off, the raditor is totally busted in, and turn signal is damaged. Other then that, those are the only damage I can see. and btw, the deer is dead, sadly enough. We called the highway patrol and did a police report, but since I only have liabilty only, deer isn't going to be covered. The Police officer was suprised that I wasn't hurt after hitting a deer going about 55mph on a motorcycle!
I'm a lucky son of a bitch. Thanks for reading my story. I just have to figure out how I'm going to work tomorrow.
Thats some pieces of hair from the deer in my leathers. I was wearing full protection gear btw (gloves, helmet, leather pants and jacket).

i got some repaired/repairable fairings that would fit your bike if you are interested. some of them have bondo that needs to be sanded down, some of them need to have some bond put on. i think i've already repaired all the cracks though.
i've got upper left, right, center, lower left and right, left and right inspection covers.
i think they'll fit. they are from an F3 though, 98-99 model.

yeah, this is my first accident ever. Had to be a big one with a deer. Its looking like parts from dealership would cost around 1800 bucks to fix. Searchin on ebay for shit, but my bike is a bit old so I'm not sure if I'll have too much luck. 8/2/2005 10:14:41 AM |

Hehe, I just called my insurance. The lady on the phone was amazed that I wasn't hurt after hitting a deer. She kept saying "and your sure your not hurt?" Gotta pay the damages out of my own pocket. 8/2/2005 10:35:26 AM |

I had a deer run into the side of my car on a saturday night on I40 a few weeks back. He ran in front of me, then saw the barrier in the middle of the road, turned around and ran straight into the quarter panels of my yukon. Surprisingly, the deer managed to run off afterwards and my car wasn't badly damaged. 8/2/2005 10:40:46 AM |

do you people not read? his motorcycle insurance is not going to pay his medical bill since he has liability only.
there is no "make some money off this" since they aren't going to be paying anything.
don't buy any parts from a dealer, you'll just get ripped a new one. you can find parts for your bike on ebay. Like I said, i've got fairings that I think will fit your bike. you can get a radiator and front fender on ebay. what else is broken? 8/2/2005 11:22:40 AM |
SaabTurbo All American 25459 Posts user info edit post |
Well, we already covered the fact that he only has liability.
I think we know he can't make money off of medical bills even if the insurance company would pay it. I know this because I used to do medical billing (For about 3 years). My point was that he shouldn't think he's going to be given extra money or anything for it.
He should still go to the doctor though if he's worried about it.

Why are you trying to get in an argument about some stupid shit like this?
The first quote was speaking to someone else. I was talking to jnpaul, who suggested that he try to make money by claiming he was injured. This was speaking hypothetically.
The second quote was because I was assuming that JBaz was saying that the insurance company was paying the bill since he was going to go to the doctors office. This was speaking about the future. You know, after he went to the doctor and had an actual bill.

^^ he exactly did that. When he heard motorcycle and deer, But he gave me a clean bill of health besides some small back ache from the yank. Nothing major, took x-rays and its just sore from the impact.
And the really funny thing was that the doctor had a huge cut on this forehead from yesterday because he ran into the side of a door. There are dangers all around us, funny to know that hitting a dear on a motorcycle turned out safer then running into a door, atleast in my situation. one in a million odds of surviving i suppose. 8/2/2005 4:01:58 PM |

One of the guys that works where I do had a brand new Ninja (dunno which one, but it was a beautiful dark blue) that he only had a couple hundred miles on and had only had about a week. He was riding through a wooded curve with his fiance riding with him and a deer came out of the woods and nailed the side of his bike! Just ran the fuck into the right side of it. Laid the bike over and they both had broken bones (her leg and his wrist/arm). Fucked up his bike real nice too as he was running about 55 as well.
Gotta watch for them deer on a bike. They'll fubar you a LOT faster on a bike than in a car. 8/2/2005 10:13:13 PM |
