is it attached to the remote wire on the head unit? Or to a switched power in the vehicle? 8/3/2005 6:56:50 PM |

i mean at worst you can wire the remote wire to the positive power wire and see if the amp comes on..if it does then thats the problem, if it still doesnt then it must not be getting power or possibly not enough of it

does that mean i need a bigger fuse? 8/4/2005 12:13:12 AM |
ScHpEnXeL Suspended 32613 Posts user info edit post |
did you do what i said or not?
if you are blowing the fuse then yes it may mean you need a bigger fuse if the wire is big enough to handle it.
you say it worked on another persons car, what is the difference between how it was installed in their car and yours? 8/4/2005 12:14:59 AM |

jesus christ how hard is this
THE RED WIRE GOES TO THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE
THE BLACK ONE GOES TO ANYTHING THAT'S 'GROUNDED', OR THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE IF YOU REALLY WANT TO RUN IT UP THERE, its all the same
THE OTHER WIRE, USUALLY BLUE, RUNS SOMEWHERE THAT HAS A POSITIVE CURRENT PRESENT WHEN YOU WANT THE AMP ON
for testing purposes the wire i'm calling 'blue' can be connected directly to a positive current (power wire that you already have there) to see if the amp will come on

You might need to check the level of the capacitance oil in the amp. It's different for each car. 8/4/2005 9:44:46 AM |

if you have the power and ground hooked up correctly, even though you havent mentioned the size amp, but i would reccomend at least 8 gauge for anything under 250 watts, or else you wont get enough voltage, jump the remote turn on terminal to the power terminal with the head unit on and see if it works, if not, check the voltage at the amp and make sure it is at least 12.5, if that is so, check the fuses in the side of the amp, and then finally, cry, because you need a new amp. 8/4/2005 7:30:14 PM |

dude you can't hook up two wires properly..3 if you count touching the blue wire to the red wire as another step, i dont think you get much say so right now in the garage 8/4/2005 9:31:20 PM |

CLEAN YOUR GROUND CONNECTION
you need to see bare SHINEY metal where the ground makes contact with the body. the powder coating/galvanizing whatever stuff they put under the top coat is only a semiconductor. it'll allow the amp to turn on but not deliver power. take a grinder or sandpaper or something and rub the ever living hell out of the paint at the ground contact until it all goes away.
(one possible solution that I have seen often) 8/5/2005 12:33:45 AM |
