i have an ev700 gateway monitor

today i turned it on and there were weird horizontal lines and everything in general looks bad. it was fine yesterday.

say, if Windows Explorer is open, there is a line going across the whole screen at the location and same pixel height of each of the folders

anybody know what the deal is??

Either a dying video card or some kind of EM interference.

happened to me with my monitor. something was loose on the side of the monitor (whatever it is that controled that horizontal line). when i pressed firmly on the side of the monitor where the damaged line was it instantly would work and not work. after a couple times pressing it was fixed. haven't touched it since (and it works fine)

good luck man

(or that could easily be the problem) careful with magnetic or metallic stuff

I mention the video card because the one video card that I've had die on me did just what he's describing. I didn't think about it being a connection or settings issue with the monitor. That could easily be the problem.
