Know anything good and free, I know the s tandard prime95 and such, but i want to work out the hard disk and other components as well.

well there's no reason to burn in a hard drive. But you can scan for bad sectors using checkdisk. But you can benchmark it using

Well, after having a failure rate of over 20% in the first 6 months at my office, im beginning to become a little concerned with the drives

My goal here is to ahve like a dos or linux boot disk that runs all the hardware for a week...hard before we deploy these systems to people. Every failure can cost us hours of work rebuildign the computer (luckly we really ahvent experienced data loss...yet..but thats only a matter of time before sombody who isnt putting there data in the right place gets wacked)

are these all the same model? sounds like a bad batch. I know the laptop drives from dell at work all had head crashes at the same time because of some defect in the drives. You may have gotten a bunch of bad drives.
