lol, S2000s can be pretty slow in a straight line. I also think "bolt-ons" do very little for them. I seriously put a couple car lengths on one from ~45-100 with a passenger in my car. He had an intake, but that was it.
Also take into account the fact that they might have been a shitty driver.

yeah, they're not straight-line cars, although they're quicker from a rolling start than their 0-60 and 1/4 mile #s would lead you to believe.
240 hp in 2800 lbs isn't really enough to be all that fast. hell, mine should make around 355-360 hp, and it's not all that fast in my opinion. 8/6/2005 1:42:03 PM |

360hp with what tq? When I read a comparo in Car and driver between a stock s2000 and a supercharged one, the difference was minimal in terms of acceleration. 8/8/2005 6:57:13 PM |

i don't remember how much torque. not much. look up dyno charts for the Comptech supercharger, with aftercooler. add a couple more for a Comptech cat-back.
i doubt it's a whole lot faster in the 1/4, and prob not much faster at all 0-60. the car just doesn't really do shit until 6k when the VTEC engages and the centrifugal SC starts spinning enough to squeeze a meaningful amount of air in.
if you're talking about highway pulls or around a road course, i think it would put the hurt on a stock S2000. i'm probably bringing the car up to raleigh for a couple of weeks either friday or saturday, so if garfus99 or someone with a stock S2000 is around, maybe we'll find out (at least about the highway pull. i don't wanna beat up the clutch/transmission/diff by doing standing launches, and i don't have a road course handy). 8/8/2005 7:24:32 PM |

times b/w sc and stock are not much different...(1/2 a sec at best) trap speeds are....
i never had the chance to take mine to 1/4 mile track.. (comptech sc, aftercooler, i/h/e, aem ems 7.5psi pulley, the full works)
with a sc the difference (in mine) came after 4000 the car pulls a lot harder than stock...

this is true with most of the brands... but if you have the money certain brands will get you pretty decent gains.. is it worth the money? no.
the best bang for the buck speed mod is the change from 4.10 final drive to 4.57...8/9/2005 2:04:29 AM |

what, if anything, needs to be done to run a 7.5 psi pulley?
did you do the header at the same time as the exhaust? if not, how much louder did the header make it? did it make it sound "buzzy"? did you get enough power from it to justify doing it?
at what point do you need to start looking into getting a reinforced rear diff? how about a stiffer clutch (my clutch will slip from what my engine makes now on, for example, a really hard 1-2 shift. does 7.5 psi make it slip all the time?) 8/9/2005 12:09:06 PM |

all i gotta say is that supercharger on mikes S2k did the job for any sort of driving.
it was nice 8/9/2005 12:14:48 PM |

the only mod i strongly recommend for the 7.5psi is a little time at the dyno so the pressure regulator can be fiddled with... the maker tech2 says no other modifications are needed but that depends where you live and what kind of setup you have.... but most people like myself richen the mixture...
i had two headers, one was a dc header which made basically no gain but the weight savings is around 11-13lbs...i sold that and got myself a toda header which is proven the most gains right with mugen... but $$$ ~1300. i dont know if i can say i got enough power from the header to justify the cost... after my setup was sold, i found out the exhaust i had was too restrictive for FI. (Spugen dual) single exhaust is the way to go... 9-12 hp increase with a good single.. (i.e spoon, t1r) but the toda by common sense was the best header for FI since it was the most free flowing..
mine never slipped, i never launched the car... the clutch itself is strong enough to handle the boost. the PP is not... i suggest replacing the pp.. if you get the reinforced rear diff, theres are special deal @ ricks2k.com which will put in the 4.57 gear while your diff is all opened up...
as for trap speed times.. stock s2k is 99~100 s/c~ 106-107 8/9/2005 5:06:13 PM |

Those trap speeds sound optimistic at best.
From what I've been reading, they trap about 97-98 not 100 stock, i couldn't find one instance of a stock s2000 trapping 100.
http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?section_id=15&article_id=6947&page_number=18
so for $13,668 in addition to the s2000 you get 1 108 trap?
