Spanning four decades, from the chaotic 1960s to the present, director Marco Tullio Giordana's passionate epic THE BEST OF YOUTH follows two Italian brothers through some of the most tumultuous events of recent Italian history. In a final period of hopeful innocence, free-spirited Nicola travels the world and settles for a life as a successful psychiatrist, while his tragically introverted and idealist brother Matteo joins the Italian police with the hope of righting society's wrongs. Their politics and personalities are inextricably intertwined as the world around them violently shifts and they are pushed together and pulled apart by the tides of history and their own divergent dreams.
The Best of Youth is a very unusal movie in that it is a little over six hours long. It is shown in two parts, so you can watch it over the course of two days if you're not hardcore enough. People say it doesn't feel that long, but I haven't seen it yet. I'll give my personal take on Thursday after I've had time to watch it.
It's got a 94% on RottenTomatoes, 90% on Metacritic, and an 8.7/10 on IMDB. It's supposed to be incredible. Word.
We'll be playing it at Galaxy Cinema from August 12th to August 18th, and it probably won't play anywhere else in the area. There's only two copies of the film, as I understand it, so each theater can only play it for one week.
Part 1 will be playing Friday-Sunday at 4:15 and 9:30, Monday-Thursday just at 4:15. Part 2 is playing all week at 7:30. So, if you're down for the hardcore run it's gonna be from about 4:15-10:36.
ROCK!]

Yeah, but, I mean, it's four times the length of your average movie. If you're a student, it'd be $11.] 8/6/2005 8:20:49 PM |

That's what it'll say on my tombstone.

spookyjon is watching this as we speak. I started the first half at about 11pm and he has about 2.5 hours left, assuming he took no break before starting the second half... that's 5AM ya'll...
I'd say he's badass.
I'm not, I went home to post on TWW.
