Drive-In Marquis: HAIL TO THE CHIMP
Homer: "They're showing 'Hail to the Chimp'!"
The President, a chimp, attacks one of his advisors (and a picture of a chimp in founding father gear is seen on the wall)
Homer (laughing): "That's what you get for not hailing to the chimp!"

Quote :
""President Clinton is once again releasing American military might on a foreign country with an ill-defined objective and no exit strategy. He has yet to tell the Congress how much this operation will cost. And he has not informed our nation's armed forces about how long they will be away from home. These strikes do not make for a sound foreign policy."

-Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA)

"No goal, no objective, not until we have those things and a compelling case is made, then I say, back out of it, because innocent people are going to die for nothing. That's why I'm against it."

-Sean Hannity, Fox News, 4/5/99

"American foreign policy is now one huge big mystery. Simply put, the administration is trying to lead the world with a feel-good foreign policy."

-Representative Tom Delay (R-TX)

"If we are going to commit American troops, we must be certain they have a clear mission, an achievable goal and an exit strategy."

-Karen Hughes, speaking on behalf of presidential candidate George W. Bush

Why did they demoralize our brave men and women in uniform?

"I had doubts about the bombing campaign from the beginning...I didn't think we had done enough in the diplomatic area."

-Senator Trent Lott (R-MS)

"You think Vietnam was bad? Vietnam is nothing next to Kosovo."

-Tony Snow, Fox News 3/24/99

"Well, I just think it's a bad idea. What's going to happen is they're going to be over there for 10, 15, maybe 20 years"

-Joe Scarborough (R-FL)

"I'm on the Senate Intelligence Committee, so you can trust me and believe me when I say we're running out of cruise missles. I can't tell you exactly how many we have left, for security reasons, but we're almost out of cruise missles."

-Senator Inhofe (R-OK)

"I cannot support a failed foreign policy. History teaches us that it is often easier to make war than peace. This administration is just learning that lesson right now. The President began this mission with very vague objectives and lots of unanswered questions. A month later, these questions are still unanswered. There are no clarified rules of engagement. There is no timetable. There is no legitimate definition of victory. There is no contingency plan for mission creep. There is no clear funding program. There is no agenda to bolster our overextended military. There is no explanation defining what vital national interests are at stake. There was no strategic plan for war when the President started this thing, and there still is no plan today"

-Representative Tom Delay (R-TX)

"I don't know that Milosevic will ever raise a white flag"

-Senator Don Nickles (R-OK)

"Explain to the mothers and fathers of American servicemen that may come home in body bags why their son or daughter have to give up their life?"

-Sean Hannity, Fox News, 4/6/99"

"Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors.

Their purpose is to protect the national interest of the United States, and indeed the interests of people throughout the Middle East and around the world.

Saddam Hussein must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons.

I want to explain why I have decided, with the unanimous recommendation of my national security team, to use force in Iraq; why we have acted now; and what we aim to accomplish.

^^ that shit... that shit is funny

there's a quote from sean hannity on how no one should question the president on the iraq war, that during times of war, the president should never be questioned.

then, there's a quote from him during kosovo, where he's talking all kinds of shit about clinton

I can't find it right now, hopefully I can find it later

Nixon wasn't a bad president? All scandals aside, he was a worthless president. Just because pres. Johnson before him preached about the so called threat of communism, Nixon decides it's time to go to the jungles of Vietnam to secure democracy. Listen, that was not our land to intrude on. What goes on there was not going to somehow bite our ass in the future. We lost that war because we weren't all on the same page to begin with and also the vietcong knew the land. He's identical to bush but not as stealthy a crook. And what is this about Clinton being wrong to go into kosovo. How bout the reasons it was right - 1. It was actually planned out. 2. It was an easy victory. 3. It had purpose. To stop genocide and the concentration camps that existed there that some people in our government wanted to keep secret. If we didn't have war mongering presidents then maybe we good have one sliver of credibility in the world today. Theres no reason in this day in age to be fighting wars like these. Ex. Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq. Look at me i'm president bush, i'll incite war with the muslim world by taking out their governments instead of covertly destroying the terrorist cells. Then i'll go play golf and count my money with Dick.

Everyone knows that old black guys on stoops started Vietnam.

See, here's how it works. Old black guys on stoops have nothing better to do in the afternoon, so they want to have fun with their friends. They go out and buy some dominoes, and then proceed to slamming them down and being generally jovial. Well, soon this becomes a game that everyone knows about, and then some guy gets the idea that he can do something else with dominoes after walking by some old black guys on stoops one day.

So this guy gets some dominoes and makes crazy shapes with them all standing up, and then knocks on of the dominoes over and it causes this really cool effect where all the other dominoes fall over after it, and it's an awesome pattern and lots of fun. Now, EVERYBODY knows that knocking over the first domino means a whole mess of dominoes fall over.

Well, then some professor was working down the hall from some college kid who was trying to get in the Guiness book for the most dominoes toppled at one time, and the professor is teaching about the development of Communism. Well, all of a sudden he hits on this idea called the Domino Theory to explain how one Communist nation will cause all the others around them to become Communist, just like living south of Canada has made us become really peaceful and friendly.

Well, then all the crazy kids in government hear about this new way of playing with dominoes, and then say to their friends, "Hey, I like playing with toys, let's go play dominoes in Southeast Asia....maybe the French want to play with us."

Thus, we went to play dominoes with the French, but when they left, we didn't want to explain the game to the Vietnamese, so we said fuck it, let's just play monopoly instead.

And then we lost.

End of war. Blame old black guys on stoops.

Bush is a lazy fuck.

Quote :
"My Private Idaho

By MAUREEN DOWD
Published: August 24, 2005

W. vacationed so hard in Texas he got bushed. He needed a vacation from his vacation.

The most rested president in American history headed West yesterday to get away from his Western getaway - and the mushrooming Crawford Woodstock - and spend a couple of days at the Tamarack Resort in the rural Idaho mountains.

"I'm kind of hangin' loose, as they say," he told reporters.

As The Financial Times noted, Mr. Bush is acting positively French in his love of le loafing, with 339 days at his ranch since he took office - nearly a year out of his five. Most Americans, on the other hand, take fewer vacations than anyone else in the developed world (even the Japanese), averaging only 13 to 16 days off a year.

W. didn't go alone, of course. Just as he took his beloved feather pillow on the road during his 2000 campaign, now he takes his beloved bike. An Air Force One steward tenderly unloaded W.'s $3,000 Trek Fuel mountain bike when they landed in Boise.

Gas is guzzling toward $3 a gallon. U.S. troop casualties in Iraq are at their highest levels since the invasion. As Donald Rumsfeld conceded yesterday, "The lethality, however, is up." Afghanistan's getting more dangerous, too. The defense secretary says he's raising troop levels in both places for coming elections.

So our overextended troops must prepare for more forced rotations, while the president hangs loose.

I mean, I like to exercise, but W. is psychopathic about it. He interviewed one potential Supreme Court nominee, Harvie Wilkinson III, by asking him how much he exercised. Last winter, Mr. Bush was obsessed with his love handles, telling people he was determined to get rid of seven pounds.

Shouldn't the president worry more about body armor than body fat?

Instead of calling in Karl Rove to ask him if he'd leaked, W. probably called him in to order him to the gym.

The rest of us may be fixated on the depressing tableau in Iraq, where the U.S. seems to be delivering a fundamentalist Islamic state into the dirty hands of men like Ahmad Chalabi, who conned the neocons into pushing for war, and his ally Moktada al-Sadr, the Shiite cleric who started two armed uprisings against U.S. troops. It was his militiamen who ambushed Casey Sheehan's convoy in Sadr City.

America has caved on Iraqi women's rights. In fact, the women's rights activists supported by George and Laura Bush may have to leave Iraq.

But, as a former C.I.A. Middle East specialist, Reuel Marc Gerecht, said on "Meet the Press," U.S. democracy in 1900 didn't let women vote. If Iraqi democracy resembled that, "we'd all be thrilled," he said. "I mean, women's social rights are not critical to the evolution of democracy."

Yesterday, the president hailed the constitution establishing an Islamic republic as "an amazing process," and said it "honors women's rights, the rights of minorities." Could he really think that? Or is he following the Vietnam model - declaring victory so we can leave?

The main point of writing a constitution was to move Sunnis into the mainstream and make them invested in the process, thereby removing the basis of the insurgency. But the Shiites and Kurds have frozen out the Sunnis, enhancing their resentment. So the insurgency is more likely to be inflamed than extinguished.

For political reasons, the president has a history of silence on America's war dead. But he finally mentioned them on Monday because it became politically useful to use them as a rationale for war - now that all the other rationales have gone up in smoke.

"We owe them something," he told veterans in Salt Lake City (even though his administration tried to shortchange the veterans agency by $1.5 billion). "We will finish the task that they gave their lives for."

What twisted logic: with no W.M.D., no link to 9/11 and no democracy, now we have to keep killing people and have our kids killed because so many of our kids have been killed already? Talk about a vicious circle: the killing keeps justifying itself.

Just because the final reason the president came up with for invading Iraq - to create a democracy with freedom of religion and minority rights - has been dashed, why stop relaxing? W. is determined to stay the course on bike trails all over the West.

This president has never had to pull all-nighters or work very hard, because Daddy's friends always gave him a boost when he flamed out. When was the last time Mr. Bush saw the clock strike midnight? At these prices, though, I guess he can't afford to burn the midnight oil. "

BTW, can you explain how posting an article about Bush being an exercise nut proves that he is a lazy fuck?

Well you understand I was talking about the draft of Nixon's presidency. Vietnam escalated since right after WWII.

http://www.historyplace.com/unitedstates/vietnam/index-1945.html This is a good site for information on the Vietnamese conflict.

I said all those things about Kosovo because some idiots were trying to say it wasn't a justified war since they'll try anything to discredit president Clinton. It is fair to point out that Saddam was just as bad as Miloševic with how he treated Kurds and anyone who disagreed with his tyranny. I believe he should have been taken out just as you, but with a clean cut plan that wasn't so messy as the Iraq war of today. If the agenda was to stop Saddam's crimes efficiently, instead of starting a long drawn out war with the Iraqi citizens then you would have most likely seen these examples for doing that
We could have sought diplomatic solution. We could have pursued covert assasination with a favorable ruler to take his place(not a puppet, just a sane guy). We could have waited till we had a comfortable allegiance of nations and UN support. Thereby policing the chaotic aftermath of the ousting with much more security. One doesn't understand the critical error in the invasion of Iraq was the uncontrolled looting after the regime was disinagrated. This set the stage for anarchy, and that is why we could never win the people's support for democracy.

Couldn't Bush have at least pretended he cared about what happened to the people in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi rather than gone golfing?

He interrupted last year's vacation to sign the Terry Schiavo legislation.
