http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=25405

Quote :
"FANS OF BLIZZARD will be disappointed to hear that a company PR coordinator has ruled out any chance that the "unannounced product" that the company has been working on will be a sequel to either Diablo II or Starcraft, long term franchises for which the company is famous and which still attract a strong following today.

He said instead that the game to be announced at the inaugural BlizzCon event will be linked to MMORPG World of Warcraft, suggesting that there is to be an expansion for the game later this year. The $125 a ticket event, which is to be held this October, it would seem should be renamed World of WarCon. Oh well Starcraft fans, the wait goes on"

I wasn't too happy with the "Inquirer", but this article on CNN some what backs it up.

""We're going to be showing off a new product we haven't announced yet," said Wang. (And for those thinking it's the long-rumored unveiling of "Diablo 3" or "Starcraft 2," get ready for a letdown. Wang said the announcement will be linked to "World of Warcraft".)"

Dawn of War was great for about 3 days, then it got boring as fuck. SC keep me entertained for years.

Im not surprised that they decided to go with more WoW related products first as right now its a huge cash cow for them, and they still have a shitload of unreleased content that has been promised.

But i also have no doubt that they'll eventually continue the Diablo or SC worlds (SC: Ghost doesnt count)

Good for you.. Still doesnt change the fact that they're pulling tens of millions in monthly and continue to have a growing subscriber base. Im glad they're putting as much resources as they are into producing new content.

well there are at least 3.5 million subscribers that disagree with you.

I dont think SC:Ghost looks very good

That sucks. They're such popular franchises that it would be foolish not to make a sequel. You could put a dog-turd in a shiny SC2 box and people would buy it.

They have stated repeatedly that they plan on revisiting both universes, even beyond SC:Ghost.

Its just that this next project is not going to be it.

if you only played DoW for 3 days, you didn't get nearly as involved in it as you should have.

Dawn of War 40k was decent, The fact that there were race differences made it a little more entertaining than AoEmpires, but it was still an RTS. So it only kept me busy for a couple days.

There's too much money to be made for there not to be a Starcraft sequel. I can't believe it's been almost 10 years since that game came out. I used to spend hours back in middleschool on it... in fact, I want to bust it out right now.

I could reaver rush people faster than they could build their first barracks or second hive.

I played through 2 of the 3 campaigns in those 3 days. Nothing about the game realy stood out.

I mean, its not a bad game. Just not extraordinary, and it doesnt have nearly as cool and as indepth of a storyline as any game Blizzard has put out.

Its got the whole 40k universe as an in-depth storyline.

I agree that the single player sucked, but really, so did Starcraft's. The multiplayer aspect of DoW is what makes it stand out for me. There are just so many details in the game that make you go "wow I didn't think of that".

umm

Starcrafts singleplayer did not suck. Its got one of the best stories in an RTS that I have ever played. Did you even play through it, or Brood War??

StarCraft single player had an awesome story and kick ass video clips. It was also progressively challenging and hence a great way for anyone to learn the game. You're an idiot.

the starcraft single player didn't engage me anymore than the doom storylines.

(and I don't play doom for the plot)

?

I'll just throw in here that Diablo III sucked.

I'd like to see a Warcraft strategy game a la the old days.
