I have Office XP for student and teachers on my computer. I just got a new laptop. Can I download the Office XP for student and teachers software on my laptop that I used for my PC or do I have to go buy new software?

Office XP != Office 2003
2003 gives you 3 licenses to install on up to 3 PCs.
XP, which she has, does not.
You will have to uninstall Office XP from your PC and then install it on your laptop. 8/20/2005 11:35:55 AM |

Office XP for Students and Teachers includes a license to use the software on a single computer. Retail versions of Office XP Standard and Office XP Professional include licenses which allow you to install and use the software on a single desktop computer and on a second laptop computer, for your exclusive use. However, this does not apply to Office XP product licenses acquired with the purchase of a computer. These original equipment manufacturer (OEM) licenses are single-use licenses that cannot be transferred to another desktop computer or laptop computer." |

Uninstall it on the old one. Then install it on the new one. When it prompts you to activate Office (the first time you use it) try calling the customer service number. They hooked me up when I tried it. 8/20/2005 8:27:46 PM |

The license may state that it allows only one installation, but I've installed the same license on at least three computers without any problems. 8/21/2005 8:50:15 AM |
