Quote : | ""Mysterious Skin, for all of its depictions of atrocities and human sadness, is a rarified thing of vulnerable beauty."" |
Quote : | ""This beautifully made and haunting film is ultimately explicit without being exploitative."" |
Quote : | ""So profoundly unsettling that I can't imagine watching it again -- except that it's also so finely acted and sharply constructed that I want to see it again immediately."" |
Quote : | "If you have had rewarding experiences with directors such as David Lynch, Todd Solondz, David Cronenberg and Larry Clark, you might be prime audience material for this film. Araki, who made such thematically intense and sexually graphic films as "The Living End" and "The Doom Generation," ratchets things up even more acutely than those directors, but he does it with silky skill. Despite the hard-edged, controversial subject matter, he makes you view the taboo from another perspective. In those moments, you at least temporarily reconsider your paradigm for morality." |
I just saw it and... yeah. Just a warning, if you're offended by themes of gay sex, pedophilia, and such lines as "fuck me in the ass with your hot teenage cock," don't go see this movie. If you can stand those, then PLEASE see this, as this movie is incredibly awesome.
