Has anyone out there had any experience with circuit citys warranties. I just bought a open box hdtv there today and got it home and to my delightment it won't even turn on. It just makes a noise like when you turn on any other tv but the screen doesn't come on. I know I should have tried it out before I got it home but I didn't. So I guess I got a few choices I can take it back and get my money back or get it fixed under warranty. If its not a major problem (maybe one of you will know) I would like to keep it. Also does anyone know the time frame for circuit city to fix problems like this. I know when my Dell messed up, Dell was there the next day working on it. I don't expect the same with circuit city. Thanks ahead of time.

Are you sure you're on the right input?

Also, if CC is like BB, they promise 48 hours (2 days) before a tech. can do an on-site thingamabob.

I bought a Sony 36 inch TV about 4 years ago from CC. I also go the service plan. With about 3 months left of my service agreement, it started to get blury. They sent out a tech who found a temp fix....well about 4 months later, it happened again after I was out of warranty, and they still fixed it under warranty because they said it was a problem that they had not fixed correctly the first time. they gave me no problems at all....but they did use a 3rd party to do all of the work.

Let's see - because I've worked at both teh Cary store and the Raleigh store, I feel somewhat compelled to answer.

Warranties are worth it on several of our products, but not mostly. On car Audio, I'd say that it's worth it. If shit blows up, we replace it. On some of the newer projection TVs, it's worth it. On most everything else it's not - if this thread gets bigger, I can elaborate later. But those are about the only things I'd use it on - maybe some home stereo shit if you like to play it loud.
