after having revisited this game today after a couple of years
all I can say is this game completely owns and i mean blows away timesplitters
helluva alot better weapons, crisper gameplay, and the AI isn't even close
timesplitters can give me all the new features it wants but it won't make me want to play it over perfect dark
the only thing it does have over it is the shitty n64 controls and the map creators 8/23/2005 6:48:34 PM |

It sucked that you needed the N64's expansion ram slot just in order to really play it...and it was still slow.
Nintendo just needs to come out with a "Halo killer" shoot-me-up.
If they would just make an updated version of Goldeneye, I'd be in heaven. 8/23/2005 7:24:35 PM |

Well the Revolution is gonna have online play for older games, so you will be able to play Perfect Dark and Goldeneye online, I just don't know if they will be re-releasing them with better controls/graphics. But yeah, these games had REALLY good gameplay. 8/23/2005 8:50:23 PM |

we used to play perfect dark into the wee hours of the morning all the time. big dark sim multiplayer battles
i hope that Revolution has Goldeneye & Perfect Dark. I would spend the time to go back and unlock all the Goldeneye cheats again. The day I unlocked Invicibility was one of the happiest of my sad life. 8/23/2005 10:05:41 PM |

Oh yeah that was the level where you had to defend Natalia while she was typing and guards would come at you from all directions. And do get invincibility I think you had to do it with 00 Agent in like 10 mins. 8/23/2005 11:01:41 PM |

What was the cheat that was unlocked if you could beat the facility on 007 (hard mode) in under 2 minutes?
It took some skill, but a lot of luck in between (especially to find the scientist) 8/23/2005 11:03:32 PM |

oh yeah, i did that facility thing. granted i had to read a walkthrough to finally get it (which i guess negates the hard part), but i still felt good seeing 1:45 there 8/23/2005 11:33:29 PM |

No no no, you're thinking the infinite ammo cheat. You do have to get it in that level in under 10 minutes or so, but you have to do it on secret agent, not 00 agent.
Quote : | "What was the cheat that was unlocked if you could beat the facility on 007 (hard mode) in under 2 minutes?" |
THAT'S the invincibility cheat. And I knew what you meant since you said hard mode, but techically 007 mode is the level editor (you can't edit maps or anything, you just get to change some parameters such as enemy health, accuracy, damage, and reaction time).
Quote : | "It took some skill, but a lot of luck in between (especially to find the scientist)" |
No kidding. It's without a doubt the hardest cheat to get. It wouldn't be nearly so hard if the scientist you had to find didn't appear in a different spot every time. But I was so excited when I got the cheat I called up my friend to brag, forgetting that it was in the late hours of the night. Needless to say, neither he nor his parents were happy about being woken up.
I actually started a new file recently and managed to get it again. I saved it for last, though.8/24/2005 12:37:55 AM |

I too have picked up playing perfect dark again. Although I haven't gotten to the war mission, I have beat all missions from agent and special agent. Currently i'm up to perfect agent Deep Sea Nullify threat. The one where your under the pacific ocean in some acient alien spaceship. The shit is hard when you got those damn jumping alien jackrabbits with teeth coming at you. Plus the guards that use invisible cloaks are no picnic either. This game was definetly ahead of its time. I still wanna get the nightvision goggle cheat so i can play the game in complete darkness and run through levels with impunity. Damn i'm a geek, but that shit is fun. Have you tried 4 player multi with 6 simulants, wipes the floor with timesplitters. 8/24/2005 1:51:17 AM |

I know Nintendo said it will re-release older games, but, from what I've read they may only re-release games made by Nintendo. Like Shivan Bird said, Perfect Dark as well as Golden Eye are both by Rare which is now owned by Microsoft so I dunno how Nintendo is gonna re-release these games. It would be awesome though. 8/24/2005 11:11:28 PM |

Microsoft would be dumb not to let Nintendo re-release Goldeneye & Perfect Dark for Rev (of course they would get some $ for owning it).
they would get the $ from direct Perfect Dark sales, and then people would want to pick up an Xbox360 to get Perfect Dark Zero cuz the original is so good. 8/24/2005 11:19:21 PM |

Well, I started a new file on Perfect Dark last night. As of a couple of hours ago, I beat all the levels (minus the bonus levels, though) AND got all the cheats AND completed all the firing range challenges. Pathetic? Probably, but I suppose it's a good accomplishment. 8/24/2005 11:26:48 PM |

Rereleasing Perfect Dark or Goldeneye could be tricky. Rare clearly has the rights to the PD franchise, so Nintendo can't just start selling the game on the Revolution without getting over some legal hurdles. Similarly, EA has a stranglehold on the rights to the Bond franchise, so rereleasing Goldeneye could also be a problem, especially since EA recently tried (unsuccessfully) to capitalize on the name recognition. 8/24/2005 11:38:53 PM |

At one point, Nintendo owned 49% of Rare, which is why they raked in 350 million dollars selling their stock in Rare to MS.

Except for Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, Rare's games are pretty derivative. The company singlehandedly ran the collect-a-thon thing into the ground. And their character designs suck ass. Banjo, Kazooie, Joanna, and all those friggin Kongs they created for DK64 don't have anything close to the loyal following Nintendo's characters do. Conker and the kids from Jet Force Gemini had to be sent back to the drawing board and are still pretty lackluster IMO. Rare's best trait was an ability to push a system to its limits. Conker and JFG both look better than all of Nintendo's games and they didn't even need the expansion pack.8/25/2005 2:26:15 PM |

man perfect example of how incredible the AI was in this game
playing a team of hard or perfect sims on hold the briefcase
I've got the briefcase and I'm holed up in a corner hallway and I cap each of them one by one as they open this cargo door
next time they come together and still cap them
third time they both come but with about a five second gap between them so just as I'm focused on the first killing it I ca'nt divert my attention and reload in time to get the other
show me another game where the computer learns like that 9/1/2005 1:55:05 AM |
