i have a screw that is really really stripped (it was like that before i touched it)....someone suggested cutting a new groove, kinda like turning the screw into a flathead, but that hasn't really worked, i don't have air tools, any suggestions?

You answered your own question. Just get the proper size screw extractor bit at Lowes/Auto Zone/etc, drill down into the screw a bit with the proper size drill bit (usually included with the extractor) and then use the extractor to remove the screw.

soak the area in PB Blaster...get a punch and hammer and try to drive the screw remnant counter clockwise...takes a while, but usually works for me.

I don't know why I don't have an impact driver yet; if you work on anything older Japanese, you pretty much NEED one of these, especially the older motorcycles...

Yeah, I have one of those tools...they work EXTREMELY well. I use it to take rotors off with more often than anything else though. I love it.

i had the a screw that was stripped and i used vice grips on that
but if the bolt is flushed then tap it and use a screw extractor

dont use a screw extractor, use one o the screw removers sears sells, looks like a reverse drillbit.

They are cheap, and take about 2 seconds to use. PLUS that way you do not have to drill out the back of the screw.

I have some of those, they work well if its a phillips thats buggered . it should work equally well on torx or square drive.

*drill down into the screw with a small bit, use a screw extractor.
*grind that shit off
*torch that shit off
*weld something onto it to get a better grip
