I currently have a AthlonXP cpu w/ a non-retail HSF. After a couple of years, I have finally gotten tired of the loud dB rating of my delta fan. What are the specs of the retail fan that came packaged w/ the retail processors? I want something comparable to that of a retail HSF in order to reduce noise level. 8/28/2005 11:19:38 AM |

i'd probably get a zalman like in that link, or one of the massive new thermaltake type with the little ducts 8/28/2005 8:17:43 PM |

I have an 80mm Zalman fan for sale, designed to go on the video card solution they have. However, if you have a 60mm heat sink you can buy a fan adapter and stick the 80mm fan on there. It has varialbe speeds and stuff, there's a thread in Classifieds where I am selling it if you are interested. 8/28/2005 10:08:11 PM |

Most 80mm heatsink fans are quiet
Those Zalmans, I read are heavy and have to be mounted using brackets to the back of the motherboard
But great for the price

It had, last i check, animation on how to install those heavy heatsinks 8/28/2005 10:34:34 PM |

Yeah, i'm not planning to buy a new HSF unit...just looking for a fan to lower noise levels temporarily. Where and how much is a converter? 8/28/2005 11:38:30 PM |

A quality low noise ball bearing fan will cost you 15-20 bucks.
A zalman with the fan will run you 35.
Go with the Zalman, it will be more quiet than any addon fan will be, and give you better temps to boot. 8/29/2005 3:18:51 AM |

Brand new Zalman ZM-OP1 80mm fan. Like I said it's designed to go with the video card cooling solution they developed, but it works just like any other 80mm fan. First link is a link to my thread selling it, second is to the Newegg page I bought it from, third is a link to adapters you can buy to make it work on a 60mm heat sink. I'll take $5 for the fan which is still in retail packaging. 8/29/2005 9:26:09 AM |
