Get something to access the ftp server with from here:
http://its.wcu.edu/software/swmac.html (fetch)

Install it, and follow the directions. Should ask for the server to connect to, (ftp.ncsu.edu), username, (jboner or whatever yours is), and password(xxxxxx, whatever).

Should drop you into your campus directory at that point, where you can use fetch to create and manage directories, as well as move files from your computer, to the NCSU server.

Actually, I'm not sure if NCSU's system works like that, but it should be similar.

go mainstream... use IE to drag from your desktop to your WWW folder on your webspace... problem solved... I use my ncsu space all the time to host pictures (not highly viewed ones though; calm down)

FTP is insecure; it passes all data, including your password, in clear text. This is a Bad Thing; even if you don't care if anyone has access to the data in your NCSU filespace, you should care about someone who could use your access for malicious purposes. There are much more secure ways to transfer files, including SCP and SFTP. Take a look here http://www.eos.ncsu.edu/remoteaccess/scp.html
for more info; I recommend WinSCP. It has a fairly intuitive interface, and drag-and-drop within its windows.

Don't Apple computers already come with SFTP? Just type:
sftp unityid@remote-linux.eos.ncsu.edu
at a bash prompt and log in with your password. Then you should be able to transfer files. It will help to read the man page for SFTP.

Hooray for smheath (although the man page will likely put you to sleep) and richthofen

You can also try FUGU - which is a decent GUI on top of the Apple-provided SCP and SFTP.

http://eq.rsug.itd.umich.edu/software/fugu

Under no circumstances should you ever use FTP, or pay the slightest bit of attention to the FTP instructions available at http://www.ncsu.edu/it/essentials. Every time you use FTP, you risk having your password and all of the data you are transferring intercepted.

WinSCP is great if you're on Windows. No installation, very easy to connect, and extremely simple to use.
