It seems my party has left me again. I read today that the GOP does not think that head of FEMA should testify on the Katrina matter but can't find the link. Anyone got that handy?

Really, I'd love to vote republican again but there is a total lack of accountablity in this administration.

I do, always. Right now it's hard for me to justify voting for a republican on a national level due the lack of accountabilty shown.

Energy meeting with felons? - Hide the notes and refuse to testify.

9/11 - don't testify under oath. Hell, don't testify without the VP holding your hand.

Katrina - point to local and state (who did fuck up royally BTW), but they lack of response on a fed level is appalling.

This administration has more documents, at a higher percentage, classified than any other. That's shady as hell.

The democrats are fucked too. Both of these parties need to get their shit in gear.

you know...

its not FEMA's fault
again the fault rests on the governor
FEMA just coordinates, they have no power
they offered to take over and put everything into federal jurisdiction but the governor said no
also the state's homeland security division prevented aid from getting in because they didnt want to attract mroe people to go to those areas

I fully believe this could well be true, but do you have a source you could cite, some newsarticle or something?

FEMA not having power has to do with the fact that they are not law enforcement. The offer to put things under federal jurisdiction is well know but also cited in pyderi's many posts attempting to decry bush, as is the rejection of that offer.

no really
there are two ways they can be authorized
one basically puts them in control
the other is just aid
the governor chose the latter
