I sneak them in everytime. I refuse to pay that much for a show and not be able to take a few memories home. Coldplay actually encouraged photos though.

I have a nearly microscopic Canon SD200 that I sneak in via my fiancee's purse to shows and it takes amazing pictures for the size.

The botch did seem to be intended, but no I didn't support Rilo Kiley, only enjoyed maybe 1 of their songs.

The botch DID seem intended, but the whole "drummer intervention" was kinda weird to have been scripted.

And I hated Rilo Kiley, even though I tried to like them. I couldn't take them seriously seeing their guitarist, previously from "Salute Your Shorts".

(tell me that guy farthest to the right isn't straight from Salute Your Shorts...)

He was also on Boy Meets World. Anyone know if they were just having a bad night or if most of you have bad taste in music?

^ I mean they had their moments. A few times the guitarist would just rip on it and I was like "whoa that was hot", but otherwise it just seemed entirely too generic as a form of music. Plus I was utterly disgusted by the 3rd song when I realized every song they sang (all of them) at LEAST had the lyric "i love you" and "don't love you/me" in them. Horrible. If they wouldn't have stopped between songs they could've played their entire set nonstop and it would've flowed perfectly. Just not enough variation for me, and their music sounded watered down.

A HUGE problem could've been their utter horrible stage show, which was non-existant. Blow-up dolls + a CD in the background would've accomplish the same visually.

most of these people just have a bad taste in music. rilo kiley were dead on, its just about 98% of the people had no idea who they were or what they sounded like. they also didnt translate well into an apitheatre setting, but i still supported them like hell

bad taste has nothing to do with this. I enjoy every kind of music ever created, if I enjoy it. Music is an personal as a freakin' mate.

I didn't say they weren't talented or hit lots of wrong notes, they just did not impress me a great deal, and that's it. They played WELL, I just didn't prefer their music.

If you're focusing on the stage show enough to call it a "HUGE problem," perhaps you're not paying attention to the music as much as you think you are. Granted, a great stage show can put a cap on a great performance, but Rilo Kiley is not that kind of band in the first place.

[Edited on September 11, 2005 at 11:40 PM. Reason : "they played well" is neither a compliment nor a display of disrespect]

^ I commented to my fiancee after the show that Coldplay's actual stage show was quite lacking. The lights and screens were AMAZING, but the band themself didn't put on a "wowing" stage show, but Chris's antics made up for it.

I'm not saying Rilo Kiley is a horrible band, I just felt they lacked the passion that I saw in Coldplay for their own music. But I'm sure being an "opening band" has much to do with that.

EDIT: For a ~$10 show, I don't pay much attention to stage show. For the price I paid to get into this, it better have an incredible stage show to go along with incredible tunes.

You might have something there. The regular 90+ minute Rilo Kiley set has random asides and covers and whatnot, and the flow is disrupted by having to adapt to an opening set. As noted earlier, an amphitheatre is terrible for translation.

It's worth noting that the Pixies are absolutely electrifying live and they've stood perfectly still for the entirety of every show they've ever played.

Ahh, right on. Just visualizing these guys in a "Cat's Cradle" type location makes them seem much more interesting.

i remember enjoying rilo kiley...ill be picking up their cd.

The pit was sweet for the show though, never been front row for a big show...closest before was 3rd row for a phish show...

Did they cover Computer Love by Kraftwerk...I mean their song Talk...Chris Martin is a fag.

Quote :
"COLDPLAY frontman CHRIS MARTIN was so desperate to use a riff by German rockers KRAFTWERK - he wrote them a pleading letter in childish German.

The YELLOW singer recently admitted he was hooked on the electronic band's melodies, and that his new single TALK includes a Kraftwerk sample.

But he was only able to obtain the riff by writing to frontman RALF HUTTER and begging him to let Coldplay use it.

He admits, "The only thing I could think of was the pen pal letters I learnt in German lessons at school. I had no idea if they knew who Coldplay were so had to explain myself like a 15 year-old school-boy.

"Dear Ralf, I sing in a band called Coldplay, blah, blah. I drew a little picture. Everyone says it's extraordinary that they said yes.'
"

Cause Kraftwerk gets SOOOO much credit for it

this show was amazing, the band played great and chris kept the energy up

the one downside was there were too many drunk/wasted beyond recognition assholes in the seats

I mean sure loosen up for a concert if you want, but if you have to be held up by your friends, or removed by security, you've wasted your money and look like a fucking moron to everyone else around you

or just get lawn tix so you can pass out and people can walk on you thinking you're a blanket

^^ Actually, anyone remotely interested in the details of Coldplay's music knew Craftwerk had everything to do with "Talk". I had personally never even HEARD of Craftwerk until Coldplay's "Talk". At least to a lot of fans they're getting attention for it, and they're making royalties so what's the problem? IMO "Talk" is one of the best tracks on the new CD.

^ I'm glad the people in the pit (who payed crazy prices on eBay I'm sure) stayed sober. That was an amazing experience up that close.

I concur!!! I was on the lawn and I wanted to kick the crap out of a drunk guy screaming crap everytime Chris would talk to the crowd. I missed about half of the "talking" but from the parts I did hear, man he is so funny.

That was a awesome concert. Best I have ever been to, especially for 20 bucks! I was sad they didn't play "Green Eyes" though

I was at the Atlanta show last night. The concert was incredible, and yes, the botch was fake, because they "botched" during this show. Capped off a great show by bringing out Michael Stipe as a special guest, and he and Chris sang a duet of Nightswimming. Unfucking believeable! Enjoy a few photos from my angle:
