I own my gun legally. I obtained it under legal pretenses and circumstances, I use it in accordance with all state and federal laws, and I have committed no crimes with it. But if the popo do show up at my door and try to take my gun, we are gonna have a problem.

I'll be more than happy to give them the gun....when I know I've done something that I shouldn't have. But if we're talking about them just rollin' on up in my home and telling me that even legally registered guns have to be removed "for my safety" or whatever bullshit excuse they gave in that article, then I'm not gonna be very happy.

I don't care how you interpret the Second Amendment, the American people have the right to bare arms in order that they might be able to defend themselves. If I get some power-trip high cop breathing down my neck and telling me that I have to give him my piece because I can't be trusted with it but I'm suppose to trust him with his, then god damnit I will exercise that right.

I honestly know nothing about the talk of them going from house to house, and as such will make no comment on it. But I have to hope it would be under the same circumstances.

this might bother me under normal circumstances... but this by no means is a normal situation.

most of the folks down in NO right now are criminals, looters, and rapists. there have been several shootouts down there (one of which my good friend was involved in), numerous times where rescuers and police have been fired upon, etc. the police don't know the good from the bad. therefore they have to take them from everyone to protect themselves and all those helping down there. if they are tagging the legal ones and returning, no big deal.

the few that didn't evacuate and are refusing are quite frankly idiots and are in the way of the people trying to rescue people and restore the city. they don't need to be down there acting as vigilantes. they need to get out of the city and out of the way like most everyone else did.

that's my opinion any way... and i live down here.

thanks. my refinery is finally coming up (i've been working 7 days/week since wednesday after the storm) and will probably be cranking out gas in the next day or so. we had 250,000 bbls in tanks that we shipped out the other day. and our sister refinery in convent, la is up. i think combined we are like 6-7% of the US demand. and we supply the southeast mainly so hopefully gas prices will slow down for ya'll.

Okay.... Just to clarify and dispell the conspiracy theories:
A. The federal government is not confiscating the firearms. Upon an intelligent examination of the articles one would notice that "Police Officers began confiscating weapons." The police being the local police NOT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.
B. This was ordered by the Superintendent of police. ie see above
C. The Superintendent of police is an idiot in control of the most corrupt police department (Search Google you will see Police kill civilians for Drugs) in the US. I justify the idiot part because he held a police news conference with Jesse Jackson as his side man.
D. These confiscations are not legal and the military was acting as support for LE. The Director of FEMA was on face the nation saying this and that he did not support the confiscations.

I heard it maybe five or six times over two days, but now I can't seem to find any info about it. Does anyone know what the deal was, there? Why on earth would anyone shoot at a rescue helicopter?
