Ive got a netgear wireless adapter and a linksys Wireless G 2.4GHz router.
Is there any way I can make it so the connection stops dropping? Somedays it will drop once and other days it will drop 5 times.
The only way I know to reconnect is to restart the computer 9/11/2005 11:34:16 PM |

is it the actual router stopping a signal from being sent or is the adapter just stopping receiving a signal? like if u were to get another computer with wireless, can they get on through the router even when the 1 with the adapter cant? 9/11/2005 11:36:51 PM |

have you checked for driver updates for your adapter AND firmware updates for your router?

i would definitely check for a firmware and driver upgrades for both router and adapter. also, i would try switching out the 2 cards with eachother and see what happens on the other computer. cause if the adapter that is working doesnt work in the computer with the adapter that isnt working then the problem is computer related and not adapter related. (if that makes sense..lol).

unplug the router and plug directly into the cable modem. see if that stops any dropping of info bein received/sent. if it does, then the router isnt setup/configured correctly and/or the router is a lemon.9/12/2005 10:07:14 AM |

Try some of the things mentioned in this post: http://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=342833&page=1#7364376 Also, if there's a 2.4GHz cordless phone anywhere in the area, it could be causing some interference. You could try changing wireless channels to get to a more open frequency. 9/12/2005 11:53:21 AM |
